[Progressive Dream House] Shadowdance vs Ethereal - Scarlet Oak [128 Nearly Full]

This is a collab between me and a good friend of mine, Nishant (aka EtherealSL on these boards) started last week in the spur of the moment. It's created in the spirit of autumn, inspired by the changing colors of the leaves.

Reminds me of a Ferris Beuller quote:

"Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it."

Style I guess could be considered a fusion of the nu style progressive house and old school dream house. Nice nostalgiac melody and some haunting breakbeats. Enjoy, comments appreciated.

yeah i liked it also, nice job you 2.

Piano was really lush, bass could be better i think, but it was fine for me.

Great quote btw .

Posted by Sunquest on Nov-02-2004 14:08:

hey hey
lets start off with bad to get that out of the way
only 2 things i can point out, stronger kick and less reverb, because even for a 128 kbps its a little muddy
ok now the good stuff

this melody ROOOOOOOOOCKS
piano , strings, little beeping thing in the back, its all perfect
nice break beat , very professional
structure of the song is excellent
nothing more i can say but i think its a definate signer

only gotta work on those two things up there ^^^^^
amazing track guys
keep it up
peace out

yeah kick must be stronger :P, nice piano and pads, melodies are great, good job

HOLY FUCK "I love you"

This is the best track i hade listen to in years!..
Give me the full SONG!

Posted by EtherealSL on Nov-02-2004 17:14:

thanks for the comments guys (mize, i love you too hahah)

this collaboration was waiting to happen for a long time.... we thought we'd end up killing each other by difference of opinion (we're fairly different styles) but things ended out nicely.

Keep them posts rolling in, guys. We appreciate them.

omg, make it fullllll

Posted by DJ-Kreing^^ on Nov-02-2004 17:43:

Absolutely breathe-taking!!
One of the best tunes I'v heard on these boards this year, amazing!

Posted by d-miurge on Nov-02-2004 19:21:

that resembles progressive trance more, but I like quite simply, there is a good density in the drums, and the melodies agreeably intersect, of the good job, all carefully!

Posted by EtherealSL on Nov-02-2004 21:47:

i'm going to upload a newer version with some mastering tweaks on it...

check back soon.

Posted by TranceFantasy2k on Nov-02-2004 22:28:

holy shit dude!

i hope to hell you're touchin up the final version because this is fucking amazing

Posted by dbl on Nov-02-2004 22:54:

think it need's a stronger kick
bass is nice.. but i think it could be better

really nice piano
nice breakbeat
lead is nice

but nice track

Posted by mikefasssy on Nov-03-2004 01:22:

bassline sounds like it came straight out of outback - minds in motion (draft 2 design mix) but still good nonetheless.

nice track

Posted by dannyc on Nov-03-2004 01:42:

great work guys

like it alot, lots of energy in that bassline, but as sunquest said its a bit muddy particularly in the lows. just remaster this guys and you's will be on to something very very signable.

Posted by marcusk on Nov-03-2004 02:33:

-really n~~~~~~~ice break...
-love the piano...
-i think the main section could be a bit more powerful, not sure maybe a louder sounding lead...just a thought
-overall good production, I like your style

**UPDATE**

Aright, i've uploaded the updated version with the tweaked mastering.

I don't know if it's that much of an audiable difference at 128, but i believe that you can tell that the bass is a little less dominating and the kick has been brought out to have just enough punch. Tell us how it sounds.

We're thinking about sending this out... suggestions as to which labels we should consider?

Posted by Timothy on Nov-03-2004 08:28:

Really good job guys.

Posted by State of Matter on Nov-03-2004 16:51:

I've fixed the reverb issue, I'll try and get a new clip up when Nishant gets back.

Thanks so much for the feedback guys. Much appreciated, glad to know you all generally enjoyed the track.

Posted by sot on Nov-03-2004 17:15:

hot sounding track. its def trancey and not housey lol. piano is really coo. id say clear up the percs a bit more, they kinda get lost and maybe a less muddy kick to open up the bassline a bit more. other then that nice job. wouldnt mind hearing this in entirety when its done

Posted by State of Matter on Nov-03-2004 17:22:

Yeah, Dream House = Robert Miles. It's a misleading title for a genre I was only meaning to imply there were no big buildups or epic leads or anything, and that piano was the focus.

But yeah I've cleared up the reverb issues, less muddiness in the track now.

This is beautiful. Seriously, get this to a label asap. If I heard a clip of this i'd go out, buy it an play it faster than Bush can say Nuclear. Proper vintage Trance this guys. Grats.

wow... sounds like a real club stomper

great job guys

I'm impressed. I now have this looping on my desktop as my background working music, my wake up and get ready to fu*king rock music, my middle of day dreamer music and everything else inbetween!
I love it.
If my girlfriend wasn't asleep in the room beside me right now I'd be cranking it full out properly!

Friends:

Thanks for the comments and criticism.

We heard what you had to say and have fixed accordingly, the kick has been replaced with a much more pounding (and at the same time, less dominating) one. The bassline is more in control and piano has been brought a little bit more as emphasis. Overall, this is sounding much more crisp and refreshing, giving a better representation of the amazing fall season.

ahh fuck it, for you lazy ones out there, here's the link below
