Love Poundin' Sensation watcha guys think?

Ok im down right tempted. I've found my Golden Calf:

Guitar Center here is trying to get rid of the few they do have for $599. That's $50 more than a standard sl-1200mk5g. There are only 1500 Golds in the usa and 3000 worldwide. The number of the one i have reserved is 0616. Each deck's hardware is platted in 24k gold. I also have a friend that won a pair of the older sl-1200ltd's back in the day, and there was a total of 10,000 worldwide, and if im correct, all were sold in the Asian market. Also, he told me each of his decks were valued at around ~$2000 and were going up b/c they're getting harder to find in great condition. Another thing, even before i've started spinning, i idolized his LTDs throughout my time in high school, and now i have the opportunity to buy my very own that will be even more valuable as time goes buy.

Should i buy it?

I would just love haven one of those

I would never get this because it is so damn ugly. But on the up side it might keep a better resale value as they are so limited. If you like how it looks, definitly go for it.

ok... I guess i'll rape my allready suffering bank account tomarrow after work and pick up my new toy.

Should i make a shrine with candles and sacrifice a virgin to make the Technics god happy???

j/k

Question: If you buy one, will you take it out of the box? Or try to keep it in uber uber 1337ness condition, for maximum financial benifit.

Second: If you do take it out of the box, will you use it so little that you wished you would have left it in the box for uber financial 1337ness?

Chex you can't just get one, you have to get a set. drop the $1200 bro and go home happy

Posted by dj chex on Nov-04-2004 05:50:

good points. i believe it should be enjoyed, not kept in a box in 1337 condition. i also will keep the packaging in case i do sell it or keep it in storage. Either way i will use it as a third deck, for sampling/vocals and recording, it's also nice to have somthing in my setup that's not too common.

KiNetic: if i had the use for two, the money, and i could get sequencial serial #s i would go for it along with the bling-bling signature gold and black Grandmaster Flash Empath and a big ass gold pimp chain.

Apart from the resale value, I wouldn't really want them, look at all that bling, I think they'd be a disaster in a club, you'd be spinning a wicked set, got the crowd by the balls, theres a buildup coming in and just as it starts, the VJ spins the lasers round, the laser passes by your decks hit the bling bounce off and hit you in the eyes making you not see shit, while thats happening you were reaching for your beer, but can't see what the hell your doing, and knock it all over your mixer, then the whole thing blows up, sets on fire, musics stopped, people are staring at you with the booth on fire, and you stumbling around, and then the manager comes up to you gives you a bill for the mixer and kicks you the fuck out, while the crowd boos and hisses at you, do you want that....DO YOU

and won't somebody PLEASE think of the children.

nail firmly on head

if you have to get a blinged out deck, i wouldn't bother with the m5g version (if the still do the m3d version that is) as the +/- 16% is fucking useless, not precise enough.

I, myself, would spend the money on a cheaper 1200 and get more for my money. I would rather play on them than worry about if i got a fingerprint on a gold portion of it. As for re-sale value, it is only worth something if you can find a buyer for it... people can say it is worth more, but who knows.

However, if you are getting it at Guitar Center, see if you can get a GC credit card. For the month of nov, you get 0% financing until Jan, 2006. If you can pay it off by then, it is same as cash.

true, plus there is no point in caring about resale value if you don't intend on selling it. why spend so much on something you are just going to sell..?

Posted by dj chex on Nov-05-2004 04:35:

I probably won't sell it unless i need the money bad. As for my other two 1200s, those will be used for djing while this one deck will be used most of the time as a sampling, listening, and recording deck. I'm thinking of getting a Grado DJ200 for just listening purposes. if you think about it, this 1200 looks way cheaper than a actual audiophile turntable. BTW, tonite at work i talked to a customer about turntables that just spent God knows how many $$$$ on a Thorens tonearm and a valve pre-amp. I'm not looking to spend nearly as much as he did, believe me.

BTW, it's not gonna be that much of a sore in my wallet b/c i'm selling some old gear laying around, and my car insurance rates are going down.

It does look pretty damn hot...you gotta agree

Posted by dj chex on Nov-05-2004 05:51:

i like it's looks, but the first dj culture experience i've had was w/ a sl-1200ltd, this deck kind of reminds me of that.

it seems like this would appeal more to the bling bling hip hop crowd, but hey whatever makes you happy.

definately agree!

absolute bargain in terms of potential resale value (guess whats coming next...)

BUT: id be scared to touch it in case i messed it up and made it worthless and it just looks nasty - all that gold just looks like your a tacky bling wannabe. praps it'd be better in real life but the pic doesnt look nice!

Posted by D-res on Nov-06-2004 22:20:

HELL YES!!!!!! and i hate you

Posted by razzi on Nov-08-2004 16:34:

for $600 that is quite an investment. you know that even in near mint condition the value will rise within a few years. i say do it, and DAMN YOU!
