Evil1 Wal-Mart

K well I hate Wal-Mart for many reasons but that's beyond the point. Perhaps you've heard that lately they've been opening their stores in the areas close to the Mexican Pyramids!!!

That just makes me so sick and frustrated. I understand if Wal-Mart was some amazing company but it's a piece of shit with no moral values and NOW they are opening even more stores in the ruins area - with massive protests of the locals to no avail.

Anyways just venting - I think this should be stopped! What do you think?

Actually hehehe...don't read too much stuff written by Noam Chomsky...hehe...he's a brilliant linguist and that is his field, nobody comes close - the problem is he's written what appears to be thousands of books lol....none of which are actually backed by any serious research - it's kind of like reading someone's flame mail

We had a whole speech about this guy in one of my history classes - so although what he says is not necessarily all wrong, but it's a lot of flaming without any real hard facts and research behind it - unlike Michael Moore on the other hand that shows you the facts as well.

But yeah other than that you're absolutely correct.

Posted by dRale on Nov-05-2004 04:16:

(dont mean to argue)

how did u conclude he is not backed up by evidence?
all mr. moore did is show partial evidence in his movies...
chomsky would ruin his amazing book structure if he involved stating every piece of evidence to his statements...
im pretty sure he does have evidence to most he sais..he is a professor at MIT after all..

Posted by starsearcher on Nov-05-2004 04:33:

Yeah he is...but he's a linguist not a historian or whatever...

Anyway....back to topic...Wal-Mart makes me mad!

Posted by mot10n on Nov-05-2004 04:45:

get ready to chalk another one up for the corporations.

and lol, you're saying you wont read a linguist' point of view of americas global strategy just because he's a linguist? chomsky is one of the leading foreign policy theorists around. his linguistics background only cements his facts because he knows how to properly form an argument and how to back it up. sorry to hijack

Posted by starsearcher on Nov-05-2004 04:51:

I am not against corporations per-se...actually I don't really have anything against them even tho they're not all good - but that's because of the people not because they are corporations!

But yeah...corporations are OK in general...Wal-Mart...NOT OK in any way - especially when it comes to something like that!

Wal-Mart - cheap crap with horible customer service, horrible treatment of employees and people, and their business partners
Ruins - tremendous achievements of a civilization and history

Pathetic!

Noam does not want to be a historian..

He is an expert on Foreign Policy and is a leading authority. His books are based on facts. All his info is referenced. BTW he's speaking in toronto on the 21st i believe....you guys should go check him out....

EDIT: Fcuk Wal-Mart

EDIT2: Did you know Wal-Mart buys out life insurence for all he people they employ. Now you know why they hire people over the age of 60

Posted by starsearcher on Nov-05-2004 05:14:

Wal-Mart is one of the worst places in the US to work for...they are all brutal even on the corporate level because well...that's what they stand for...

By the way about Chomsky - I'm just passing on what my History and International Relations Professor was talking about in class - He is professor at UofT and Ryerson and he specializes in US International Relations and foreign policy, also written a couple of books - SOOOOO I would definitely trust his point of view... (AND he is NOT AT ALL pro-American if you're wondering)

And this is from the MIT website:
Noam Chomsky

Institute Professor; Professor of Linguistics
Linguistic Theory, Syntax, Semantics, Philosophy of Language

I'm not saying you are all wrong, it's just that this guy wrote a million books which are mostly his own personal views and conclusions that's all. And not they are ALL WRONG...it's just that we had a big speech about how his material would not really be classified as good research for an International Relations history essay because of what I already said above

Its like that documentary The Corporation,

Walmart's a perfect example of a psychopath personality type. One single goal regardless of ethics and morals: make money.

and yet...

such good deals on dvds...

Posted by starsearcher on Nov-05-2004 05:27:

Corporations are NOT BAD...it's just that Wal-Mart is...blah. I mean at least if they stood for something GRANDE...they don't stand for anything lol...

Posted by bARTovsky on Nov-05-2004 05:31:

Yea I guess they aren't ALL BAD.... but at the same time it does get kinda scary how aggresive they get. Take Starbucks and their installment of a cafe pretty much every hundred feet in the TO downtown core area....

but I digress...

Walmart... Booo....!

Posted by dallastar on Nov-05-2004 05:32:

Thumbs down .my thoughts

i don't think it's kewl at all that they are building a Walmart by the pyramids in Mexico - if that is correct then

Posted by ShadoWolf on Nov-05-2004 05:32:

Wal-Mart is great except for one thing: the trashy people that shop there.

I don't think it's kewl at all that they are building a Wal - mart by the pyramids in Mexico - if that is correct then - it is wrong - why there anyways?? - Wal-mart also sells bullets to children in the states as seen in the 9/11 doc, so I hope that they re think this situation just for those that care.

what do these pyramids look like??

jus' curious..

The sad thing is I used to work for Wal-mart. They took my damn picture and put it in their flyer and even had it on the net when they were first constructing their web site.

It was an alright job though while I worked there.

yeah I had to provide customer service to those dirties for over a year. But walmart is a everybody store....not just dirties. People around here love Wal-mart. They think it's a one stop store that has everything. I can honestly say I really never shop there except for beauty/cosmetic section. I know when I move into my own place I will be shopping for home accessories there for sure. They have good deals and prices.

a Carrefour in Canada would be nice, much better than wal-mart and it's crappy N.A. brands

Posted by jester_ on Nov-05-2004 14:44:

Jester

I'm very embarassed to say this but I actually work for Wal-Mart as of now and have been working for them for a year now... i have to say it's most definetly one of the worst jobs that i've had.. sure they have great benifits an what not but man.. They dont give two sh^ts about their employees although it's in their "policy" to care.. everyday I dread going into work, and wish there was more jobs round here to work.. All they do is try to put other businesses out of business, by the "we less for less" ya thats sh^t.... their products suck, even the name brands suck... I actually plan to boycott this company as soon as i get myself something deserving of my time and energy..
