"Rest in peace"

Felt the sadness when i heard it

Like all football "soccer" fans or players alike in Australia, he had to endure the prejudice against our game. The greatest ambassador you could ever ask for, he knew the score, he knew the Aussie football fans struggle.

RIP, You'll Never Walk Alone Johnny Warren.

A very very sad time for Soccer Australia.

His passion for the game both on and off the field was unrivalled, an outstanding ambassador for Soccer Australia, an inspiration, and a true National Hero.

Yeah a truly sad day for the world game in Australia. Johnny Warren will be sorely missed by everyone in the football community. He was probably the best ambassador the game ever had here.

I feel genuinely pretty sad about this.

Football being my only big sporting passion. Johnny was good eatin'. Remember him from when I was a wee tacker.

Now hes joined that big football field in the sky...

Legend.

He has done so much for the World Game, it was just sad that he passed away before we finally got our act together with an Australian league, which was what he was so passionate about.

RIP Johnny Warren.

Governing bodies are finally starting to realise his ideas and views, that he has been preaching for years. So it's like "Yeh told you that 5 years ago"

Eg. For years he's been preaching about reform in the NSL and his ideas and opinions on how the leauge should be structured. Finally governing bodies realised he was right, hence the A-League. So it's a case of told you so.

Another view of his was, why do we focus so hard on the English and European style of playing and try to emulate that, why dont why focus on Brazil's style and learn from that, after all, they are the most successfull football nation. Eventually Soccer Australia will realise this, and again it will be a case of "I Told you so"

Sydeny people can go and watch the final of the Johnny Walker Cup as a tribute to the great man.
