Godskitchen moving to Spirit

I am so happy for the GK crew as I think this a great move for them. I hope the move is permanent. Though it will make them compete head to head with Crobar for Friday nights.

Last night, they threw their first Spirit party. I came really late but was impressed with what I saw. The place was packed at 4AM. DJ Vibe headlined and played a hard tech tribal set. Jason Jollins and Low End Specialists (LES) opened. People were very cool and friendly last night - they pulled in a sullivan room/canal room crowd last night - very into the music and no sketchiness.

Forgot to add it will make them compete for Friday nights with Crobar because Jonathan Peters still has his Saturday night @Spirit party...

So what happens now with PVD for NYE????? Is it still going to be at Ikon???????

In my opinion this was a horrible move. I worked with GC @ Spirit when they first came to new york, no one was being paid. I personally know people who work within Spirits management; they all tell me the place is shady in their business dealings. Besides that unless they upgrade their sound system I'm not stepping foot in there again.

ya their sound system was killing my ears @ pvd in june...

The very first time I was there for Anthony Pappa, the sound system was fucking mint. Every time after that, the sound system was always alittle too bass heavy for what the place could handle. Taking a page out of Avalon's book, louder is better.

I've been to Spirit once...and only once. Horrible, my boyfriend promoted an event there this summer, he was turned away at the door by the meathead bouncer due to the way he was dressed, ARC always seemed to let him in in the same clothes. Both of us were to get comped entrance to the club due to the promoting...both only got $5.00 off instead. Like I said it was in the summer, july to be exact and well my man is still waiting to get paid for that event. Once my boyfriend did get in after going all the way to Queens and back to change clothes he entered at 4AM to hear Victor D spin, who was to close out the club at 8 or 9AM, well Vic came on at 4 and was shut down at 6, when the club also closed it's doors for the night, and this was 4th of July weekend. The best though was I was informed by the bouncer that Spirit is "The Cream of the Crop" his words, not mine. I think for GK to move there is a bad move. Question is....Is Ikon better? It's a sad state of affairs when the best clubs in the city are Spirit and IKON.

Posted by phoenixBEBE on Nov-08-2004 19:06:

iono...for some reason I just don't like the vibe at Spirit...even for the PVD afterparty I didnt think it was good. It was waaay crowded, it was HOT, there was a fight, there was a person unconscious outside with the bouncers etc....Then I heard JP getting a residency there and it was like "forget THAT"...

I also think it was a mistake for GK to move (back?) to Spirit. Who knows why they moved. But at least PVD is still gonna be at Ikon. AFter NYE who knows where GK will be...

and for now, CroBAR is the best club as far as i am concerned...altho i would give almost anything to have ARC back... all the clubs cater to the chi-chi/bottle service type of ppl (well cuz of the money) and I just want to go somewhere where I can just enjoy the music and not have to deal with dress code etc. I guess that would be Roxy but not many parties are being held there as much as in the past

Roxy sucks bigtime!!!! If I was gauranteed sex, free drinks, and to be comped I still wouldn't set foot in that place.

Hello

Hi All,

I wanted to come online, and get to know you, and be available to anyone with any questions. I will do my best to honestly address any questions or comments you may have.

As far as us moving to Spirit, we have not moved there permanently as of now, and we are currently making decisions about what we want to do here in NYC. We enjoyed working with Spirit and their staff this last friday for this one off event with DJ Vibe. We were very happy with both turnout and vibe of the show (pun intended) The man rocked the house!

We enjoyed working with IKON + staff, and think it is a beautiful nightclub. We will still be producing our NYE 2005 event at IKON with PvD, and that show will be nothing short of phenomenal.

We want to produce events that all will enjoy, but we also understand you cannot please everyone, all of the time. Regardless of where we move to, and who we book, there will always be someone not completely enthralled by those decisions. We will continue to produce the best party possible with the best talent, from NYC and the rest of the world.

As a promoter and producer of events, all I truly care for is the people who attend our events, because without you, there would be no party. Please feel free to PM with questions or comments, as I like to hear what you have to say.
