there is bound to be some cheese with lucas trying to appease his fellow nerds with nods to the original 3 movies.

the preview looked awsome! i got goose bumps just watchign it, i cant wait.

the special effects are again going to be mind blowing. Lucas has pushed the cenematic world for the last 30 years, and i dont think he is gonna stop short just yet.

i thought the first 2 lacks considerable acting and a good plot .. he seems to rely too much on special effects these days to sell the movie and doesn't bother to emphasize too much on a storyline and character development ..

it's like i said in this thread before the original one got deleted, Lucas seems to have gone from being a visionary to becoming a businessman ..

nothing will ever top the original 3 !

the acting in eps 1+2 was definatly lacking, and i didnt like them as much as eps 4-6. but i would still watch 1+2 just cause its star wars(not a huge can, but i like them).

I personally think that the time in which eps 4-6 came out, lucas might have wanted to do a lot more special effects, but just couldnt because of the limited technology.

remember Star Wars is not only about giving people a movie to watch with characters, but its also about building an entire world which fans can get lost in. hence the special effects.

if he is a bussiness man(as any successful person wil become) then he is one hell of a business man, he pays for the movies BY HIMSELF, and therefore 100% of the profits go to him!

yeah i totally agree with you , i just think that he's gotten so caught up in the special effects aspect of the movies that it's taken away from the acting and role of the actual characters in the movie. great movies with good special effects generally have it there to compliment the actors, take for example a movie like Lord of the Rings - which wins a best picture, also featured great special effects, but at the same time i thought the acting was brilliant in the movie and really helped the audience connect with the characters in it. i found that many of the characters in EP1 & EP2 to be just downright annoying (Jar Jar Binks, teenage Anakin, & etc).. it just seems to me like with this new trilogy, for Lucas atleast, the SFX seem to be in the foreground of the storytelling and the characters are in the background.

also, what was really the point of EP1 .. ?? i don't think it was necessary to spend an entire movie just painting a background picture of what was going on. i personally thought Lucas could have easily started the trilogy at EP2, which would have left 2 more movies for more time to develop and emphasize on Anakin's fall to the Dark Side, which would have been far more interesting to observe and hasn't been delved into too deeply just up until now..

yeah true...ep1 was a bit drawn out.
What actually happened:
-we meet Lord vador(anakin)
-we meet his wife(princess amadala, mother of Luke
-we meet OB1
-anakin becomes a jedi(in training), yoda warns of the dark side.

the rest was really just filler. and jar jar, was super annoying, im glad a black rights group sued lucas! lol.

actually i thought that maybe EP1 woulda made even more money had he started the story somewhere around where EP2 took place ..

i always thought that Anakin would start off at Luke's age in this one

Lucas has ruined the Star Warsfranchise...sure, it's making money...but the two latest films SUCKED ASS with almost no redeeming qualities whatsoever, IMHO.

The old ones were almost campy...but there was great chemistry amonsgst the actors...the new one? no. lame chase scenes, lame writing, and most of the actors have the personality of cardboard. Just as I skipped the 3rd Matrix and it's high school philosophy, this one *might* be worthy a rental.

^^^in refernce to the personalities, you are completly right. they do no gel at all, and i think thats the worste part of the movies, not even the writting.

episode 2 was worth seeing just because i got to see yoda fight! i remember the entire theatre started applauding when he droped his robe, and after that, wow!

i described it as a "green monkey with a light sabre"

oh...i thought i heard him say that sometime ago, but i could definatly be mistaken.

and obviously the script would have been changed over the years, to make it more modern.

I like the fact that Lucas is really tieing in the other movies with the scenes and clips used in the trailer.

Albeit there is a lot to tie together to do...

i really really hope EP3 will be good, but i dont think it will be. from wat i saw in the preview, too many computer generated scenes which look relaly bad IMO, just like in EP1 and 2. the acting will prob be the same cuz its teh same actors playing the parts. and so on.

but ill still go see cuz im a fan
