You ask for more Mods...

and then Wicked Neo goes and closes a perfectly good flame war!

I'm sure he wouldn't have done it without all the extra nagging about the subject... that was good wholesome fun

You should be getting your very own dedicated mod for this section shortly, one who will keep an eye on all the activities here supported by myself, tu_face and blik

We have someone in mind, just got to add them to the mod list, so be afraid, be very afraid . . .

he banned a user that was posting in this forum because he personally took offense to what that user posted... so he might not have powers to edit/close threads in here, it seems he still has the power to ban any of the members.

Man, I don't know. Whenever Wicked Neo makes a post, I shiver a bit. Very blunt, to the point, and RED.

Posted by JM on Nov-08-2004 19:21:

^^^ i agree.. he's done that from the start, if i remember right... and that burning flame doesn't help.

and his posts are not bs - just straight to the point.

oh ya, i feel that also

his avatar, the name, the color. it all freaks me out!

i actually disagree with having a moderator here it can be dangerous.

Admittedly, there's been more flame wars and name-calling than usual in the last week or so, but mostly from people who do not regularly post in this forum. Once people have come to terms with the results of the US election, the forum will die down again to it's usual level. Given the nature of the discussions here, and the fact that regulars are generally civil with each other, I don't think we really need any more mods in here.

Posted by MisterOpus1 on Nov-08-2004 20:24:

I would like to once again reiterate my sentiments for giving this particular forum a little more time before a decision is made on a new mod. We are not even 1 week after a most incredibly heated election, and it fairly evident that tempers and gloating haven't quite calmed down just yet. I do have confidence that they will, and things will be a little bit more on the civil side, once again.

So if there's any mod that may still be paying attention to this thread, all I ask is that you wait just a bit longer until your decision(s) is made on a new mod. If things haven't curbed a bit after your allotted time, say another week or two, then I would fully support a new mod. myself for this forum.

Posted by sensorium on Nov-08-2004 20:42:

I agree with the post above. The flow of this subforum was going okay until election time. Things got a bit messy. Thta's bound to go away.

Maybe you should just have a person moderating here during election time.

Hell, flaming doesn't work if the flamee doesn't respond. It's a self-fulfilling prophecy. Best way to stop the flaming is to ignore it altogether(if only it were that easy!).

well I understand trashtalking but when vulger language along with racist remarks of hate come into play....MODS need to come in.

One particular user to look at: KAMIL

Short responses consisting of 7-10 words with about 7 of them being bad words/hateful comments.

There is a Difference in postelection humor/trashtalking and Hate/antiamerican/vulgar..and this past week its become quite evident

True. I just hate to censor free speech. If a person wants to make an ass of themselves by acting immature, then so be it. But I recognize that sometimes the language is just so offensive and out of line that a higher power must intervene to set things straight.

how can you explain that after 5 days , no moderator disagreed with the suspension ?

you've been on TA longer than the majority and you perfectly know the racism rule , but apparently you make it seem like you never heard of it before.

it figures you have a personal problem with me

I think that the PF needs a mod, but not a lot of moderating: We need someone with mod powers for those once-in-a-month situations where a useless thread from COR is dumped in here, or when a troll goes on a posting spree in frustration over lack of answers. Not so much for banning or being the opinion-police, but for removing redundant threads that hogs the page space from the interesting ones.

Anyway, it seems as though the new moderator is Lira? Hope you do a good job - I have not noticed your posting much so if you moderate in the same lowkey fashion you'll probably be a popular mod.

Posted by sensorium on Nov-09-2004 07:32:

Lira always does a good job moderating the other subforums. I'm glad he will control this one too. He's bound to do a good job. Good luck.
