Songs in Relationship to Life

Are there certain songs that trigger memories or emotions for you?

For example, everytime you hear a specific tune you recall your first clubbing experience, or it reminds you of someone, maybe makes you want to cry or laugh.

What songs do this to you, and what do you relate them to?

Everytime I hear "Infected Mushroom - Deeply Disturbed" it reminds me of waiting for the bus, or walking to the mall.
OR
Whenever I hear "Chemical Brothers - Sunshine Underground" it reminds me of my first time trying shrooms

How have the songs you have heard in passing relate to events in your life?

Tranceport...the mix-cd...reminds me of first getting into trance.

Posted by lücid on Nov-09-2004 17:11:

jeez, i have so many songs like that, it'd be tough to list them all...

Andy Hunter - Amazing // reminds me of my ex in LA

Lost Tribe - Gamemaster // reminds me of driving to Long Island late at night, and sitting in a Taco Bell parking lot

Hybrid - True To Form (and the whole Morning Sci-Fi CD) // reminds me of my old apartment

Modulation - Spirits (Slusnik Luna Remix) // reminds me of seeing PVD for the first time @ HOB in Chicago

GTR - Mistral // reminds me of NYE 2002

Chicane - No Ordinary Morning // reminds me of talking to a guy i used to be close friends with, while i watched the sun rise from my apartment downtown over the lake

Revolution 9 - Pacific (Prime Mover Mix) // reminds me of driving home to my aunt & uncles house in the middle of the night, trippin my ass off

there's so many more, but those are the ones that stick out in my mind.

Salt Tank - Eugina 2000 (Progressive Summer Mix)
------reminds me of driving in my city in Colorado on a cold but bright December afternoon. Specifically, I'd just bought a whole bunch of really good Christmas presents for my family members, and I was so happy that I could finally share Christmas with people.

ALL of Perfecto Fluoro reminds me of driving to TaeKwonDo on a misty Saturday morning for the early Black belt class. As much as I loved all of the lower-belt students, there was just something special in being with the top people of the school for some good practice sessions.

I used to listen to In Search of Sunrise 3 a lot in my car when I took my dinner break while working at Taco Bell/KFC. It was such a shitty job, but it was easy and it was secure and I never thought that I'd miss working at a fast food restaurant...I guess it was moreso the people who made it fun than actually work itself, but I'm sure any of you who have earned something in your life know what I'm talking about.

Moonstruck - Lunar Outbreak. Obtain this song NOW. I don't care how - you'll probably have to download it since nobody sells Tiesto's Forbidden Paradise series anymore, much less numer 8 (Mystic Swamp). This is a GREAT tune, and reminds me of meditating in my room after a long night of hard TaeKwonDo practice.

Great thread btw.

Yup - the Taco Bell/KFC on Lincoln avenue in Parker.

You don't happen to be that naked guy who came through my drive-thru that one night, do ya?

Ha ha. Negative. I've never been to the one on Lincoln. That's BFE. That's funny. I didn't know you were a Colorado kid. Are you just in school in FL or moved there?

Posted by Halcyon+On+On on Nov-09-2004 17:41:

I moved to Florida to go to school. How's that?

I spent all of High School and the latter portion of middle school in Colorado. I'd lived a lot of places before Colorado, but it's still one of my favorite states. All the great memories, I suppose. It's kinda hard letting go of where you went to High School at.

This thread only makes me want to create more memories in Florida, though! Good stuff.

One more...

John B - Mercury Skies (Trance Mix) reminds me of taking a really special girl out to see a movie for the first time. I don't even remember what movie it was, all I remember is her.

So you went to Ponderosa or something like that?

Four Strings - Diving reminds me of a couple of my friends. They love that song and, to this day, ask me if I have it with me everytime I play.

Hahaha - Ponderosa was our rival school, I guess. I went to Chaparral High School.

I remember our senior prank was to switch places with all the senior class of Ponderosa though - my classmates and a lot of kids from Ponderosa (I didn't participate, such things were below me ) all met in a Wal-Mart parking lot, exchanged schedules, then went to each others' schools to pose as one another. Needless to say, the buses were quite busy that day.

Conjure 1 - Tears from the moon (tiesto mix) = sitting on my porch at night in highschool getting drunk

Tiesto - In My Memory = Flying from NYC to Madrid and watching the sunrise.

eh...so many more...

X-Press 2 featuring David Byrne - Lazy

When I was living in London during my study abroad I would always hear this song on the radio and the pubs. Each time I hear the song play it brings back warm memories of London and its beautiful people & culture.

oh that

the guy posted how great and l33t dj sammy was in the cd reviews and I took a look at his site cuz I was in one of those sarcastic tta moods and I saw three songs, he got new years day wrong, he called new years eve and he butchered it but that quote was so funny, I figured I'd make it my sig. We all know, if you don't have the legit rights to something, you can't sue Made my day

i was at this party...ferry was so drunk when during that mix, he fucked up solid globe-north pole and had to stop and redo it...it was hilarious.

I have a special place for PvD - Connective & Forbidden Fruit 2003 from hearing them live at godskitchen once, the only big event I've ever been able to go to.

Other than that, the only song that strikes a cord with me is BT - Flaming June, simply because I listened to it a lot around the time I was let down HEAVILY by the first girl I ever really asked out.

That is exactly what I just did!

I have a few:

Cass & Slide - Perception - walking up to Uni
Tilt - I Dream - on a bus coming back from Paris on a school trip and also flying out of Heathrow on a late summers evening as the plane turned to the east and the sun through all the windows in turn in rapid succession.
Solar Stone feat. Elizabeth Fields - Speak in Sympathy (Deeper Mix) - playing football in my final year at school
Aurora feat. Naimee Coleman - Ordinary World - getting myself ready for field hockey when back at school
Solange - Messages - flying Concorde London-New York.
Aria - Dido (AvB Universal Religion Mix) - working out at the gym
Pete Lazonby - Sacred Cycles (Probspot Mix) - watching my school become national rugby champions in pouring rain!!!

PS. When I say school I mean as in highschool not University
