Wish me luck in two days I am playing a *real* club for the first time
I've played on the radio and house parties, but never in a real club. I'm the second DJ and will be opening up for the main headlining DJ. I plan on starting really slow and build it up for the headliner. I really hope to work the club into a frenzy by the time my shift is over!
three years DJ'ing has finally reached the pinnacle point.
Wish me luck and anyone have any suggestions?
I will be playing progressive (James Holden style).
Good luck!
I don't have much advice because I never played in a club before but try your best and don't get too discouraged if you make a small mistake, chances are nobody will notice.

i actually didnt do to bad, i wa mixing some house, and i was really comfortable with my set, but it went well, it was a b2b with a freind, and me and him really flow well together, i was hella nervous but once i got into it, i didnt want to get off the stage!
best of luck to you...no matter what you'll come out of this gig having learned something!
please come back to tell us what you learned and what you experienced
good luck man. have fun! thats all that matters
Good luck man, my advice, is during that day, try and have a good time, don't let anything bother you, and when you play, get right in and involved in the crowd.
Good Luck mate... Remember that an amazing tracklist and flow to the set, will outweigh any mistake's that may come up... just don't worry about them...
and most important.
HAVE FUCKING FUN!!!!

1) Get there early
2) Have 2-3 beers to calm your nerves
3) Make sure you know the sound system or specifically the mixer, even if its just looking over the shoulder of the guy before you...best to come in before the club opens if you have the chance
have fun mate....
Oh and I forgot.....mix in from the last guys tune if you can....keeps the energy going, otherwise you have to start from 0 again pretty much. Its also a bit arrogant.
Good luck man, i still have a few months b/f i even go to parties. Still building my set. Hope the crowd feels ya, try to record it when you can.
Best luck to you!
FuzzyGreen: I was in the same situation as you about 3 months ago and posted the same sort of thread. I got a lot of very useful advice from people here and overall the gig went very well.
Here's the thread:

By a funny coincidence, I got invited to do another peak-time gig for the same club... and it happens to be tonight! Very nervous/excited all over again....
Good luck, have fun and enjoy yourself! Everything else will fall into place.
Okay, first of all, because you're the second person on, you're gonna be nervous as hell (it's normal). This is adrenaline. Jump around the dancefloor and try to get rid of that feeling so you don't start shaking while you're up there.
Secondly, feel out the party... I don't know how many sets I've spun where I've tried to plan out what tracks I'm going to spin and I got there and I've had to scrap the entire set and spin on a whim.
I mean, yeah, have an idea of what you're going to play, but just be flexible.
Thirdly, get into it. I'm sure you've heard some immaculate sets, but the crowd doesn't realize it because the dj's not getting into it. Dance up there. You LOVE this music and if you're dancing up there, everyone else will get into it as well.
And let me end on this: that night will be one of the best experiences of your life. You will learn so much, the crowd will go a lot crazier than you think (most of the time your friend are there and THEY are the ones that help you get the crowd going), and you'll be pumped as hell... so just have fun, okay?
Have fun. Get there early. People don't usually notice mistakes so spin a great set.
