Watermarking Digital Photographs
I've decided that I want to watermark alot of my photo's that i'm putting on the net, to stop people stealing and using them.
So does anybody know of a good application (preferably free) that can add a semi-transparent image on top of my existing photo's. I could of course add the watermarks individually, but i have large batches to do.
Does anybody else watermark images and stuff? what do you find the best way to mark a large batch at once?

EDIT: I see there are plenty of watermarking apps availible to BUY on the net, but im really looking for a no-cost solution.
For single images you could just fade layers on photoshop, but since you have a lot of them to do I really can't help.
BTW the first image you have to watermark is the Bitter Twisted Christian Virgin Alliance one 
yeah we all trying to steal photos of ur gf. If i wanted to do that ill just get a photo of polkaroo
for my business actually. I can't afford for the images to be copied unmarked, hence the request for information.

download the 30-day trial version of paintshop pro, that'll do it 
a professional photographer & myself are in business. we are selling photo prints and now want to expand the market to the web. I'm developing the site myself on a low budget (already spent on hosting).

The best would be to have a flash site using only thumbmnails...so even print screen wouldnt get you anything, and then have it so you have to scroll around to view a large image...

use low resolution images and write your web address at the bottom its called free advertising which is a good thing. since ur just starting out no one knows ur website exists so i dont think u will have a big problem with ppl stealing ur images btw if you cant afford to buy a dirt cheap image editor i think something is wrong with ur business model

use photoshop.
Record an action of creating a watermark on an image, and then you can automate it to apply your action to an entire folder of images.
To record an action, click the actions tab (beside history). Then click "Create new action" (little paper icon at the bottom of that window). Everything you do in photoshop will be recorded in that action (eg make a new layer, set transparency to 20%, resize to 50%, adjust levels, etc etc). Click on the stop button to stop recording the action.
To apply the action to a batch, click File > Automate > Batch. On the action drop down menu select your newly recorded action. Click choose to select your folder of images. And then specify a desination folder, where it will save your new images.
It's great for making thumbnails or just resizing high-res images and adding basic things like borders.
