Why all the fuzz about *JP 8080 *?
Ok people I have been surfing throw this forum since some days ago and I have seen all talk about the JP 8080 like a great thing,some one could explain me plz why is so good this synth?what makes it so Popular?,I am really wonder because I heard some demos and sounds really nice
.
Kopi =o.
You see, the JP 8080 is a powerfull tool,thet lot of great creators like AIRWAVE use if I am not wrong...and a lot lot more. Well you sayd yourself that you heard nice staff from it...it's good for pads and leads...
its a little overrated if you ask me. Mostly people talk about it here becuase its like the number one source for the "supersaw" or in my opinion the pupersaw! If you don't know the sound then listen to Rank 1's Airwave and you will know. I think that sound is a little over used now.

.
u wont see one for less than 700USD...plus they are discontinued, so roland don't make em anymore...but they manufactured so many so that supply is in the surplus so price wont be going up anytime soon. If you do go for one get the 8080 because to my knowledge it has a few upgrades from the 8000...and its smaller because its a rack.
I swear I saw a used JP-8080 for about 300 dollars a couple of months ago.

yea you can sometimes find some insane person (read: fool!) selling a jp for something stupid like 300 us dollars on ebay. but people will snap that up insantantly so you gotta be quick. its literally a case of seeing one listed, popping out to the bank briefly to see if your paycheck has cleared, coming back home only to find some european cheese monger has bought it in your absense. if its listed as an auction you can guarantee the price will rise and rise until its about your average 700 dollars. sometimes more if they are really desperate to have one. the jp8080 has no keyboard (its a desktop module/rackmount) but it has a vocoder which is supposed to be really good. the jp8000 is the full size keyboard version of the jp8080 minus the vocoder.
there is a difference in polyphony too
