Alright, so after seeing it everywhere, I have to ask ...

what the hell does CDM stand for? (which I see in tracklistings sometimes for the label, as opposed to CDR)

Yes.

CDS = CD Single (only 1-2 tracks with possible remixes)
CDM = CD Maxi (more tracks than in a single, but not quite album length)
CDR = Self-burned CD
