Of course they do! If you go to see ___________, it's not like seeing a band, where you know pretty much exactly what songs they're going to play, because they only play their own productions for the most part. When you go to see a specific DJ, unless it's solely based on amazing mixing technique, you go because you like the type of music they play.

Oh I doubt that. From many interviews i've seen that a lot of DJ's at least claim to listen to almost every genre except EDM, usually a much broader taste than their fan base.

AVB (who is certainly not my favorite dj) said in an interview, that he never listens to EDM at home, or in the car, only in the studio, and other obvious places.

On the otherhand when some interviewers have asked "whats in your cd player right now" He has named some edm stuff. So i dont know...

I was interpreting this (strange) thread as liking what DJs play. I would think and hope that people listen to different kinds of music.

i guess DJ's base their music style on other kinds of music - you can't base your sound on your own sound

me for my part i not only like trance etc. - it gets boring after a while listening to the same kind of music on and on - but also stuff like "at the drive-in" or "knapsack" or other real emo stuff like that. u guys should check it out sometime, don't be so narrow minded.
