Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2004 8:45 a.m. EST Dan Rather Sends CBS 'News' Swirling Down Ratings Toilet Note to the Democrats who run Viacom: It's time to flush Dan Rather, before he does even more damage to your precious bottom line. Although the network leads the ratings with entertainment shows such as "CSI," its scandal-plagued "news" division lags behind NBC's and ABC's. Today the ratings for election night were announced. The winner: NBC, which had the fairest coverage of the three. Recall that along with cable's Fox News Channel, NBC correctly called Ohio for President Bush long before the others; all called Pennsylvania early for John Kerry even though that state was closer. "It was a big week for NBC News, which by a decisive margin was the network of choice for Election Night returns. The soon-to-step-down Tom Brokaw led NBC's "Nightly News" to an 11.4 million average (8.0 rating, 15 share), ABC's "World News Tonight" had 9.6 million (6.7, 12) and the "CBS Evening News" had 7.7 million (5.5, 10)," the Associated Press reported today. Even though FNC is not available in the many homes that don't have cable and is still excluded from some cable systems, it scored 8.3 million viewers on election night, USA Today reported today - more than CBS. Ever since Democrat operative Rather tried to throw the election for Kerry by making a fool of himself with his phony National Guard "documents," the American public has avoided his broadcasts more than ever. So, what sort of retirement package might he be offered? |

CBS Apologizes for Breaking With Arafat News Thursday, November 11, 2004 PHOTOS Click image to enlarge NEW YORK CBS (search) apologized Thursday for breaking into its prime-time drama "CSI: NY" for a special report on Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat's (search) death, blaming an "overly aggressive" producer. The 10:55 p.m. EST report on Wednesday cut off the ending of the popular forensics drama, prompting a cascade of viewer complaints. The network said the "CSI: NY" (search) episode would be repeated in its entirety 10 p.m. EST Friday. The report came just five minutes before local news broadcasts in the East and Midwest. ABC and NBC waited until the local news to break the story; in the West, NBC ran a "crawl" with the news at the bottom of the screen. "An overly aggressive CBS News producer jumped the gun with a report that should have been offered to local stations for their late news," the network said in a statement. "We sincerely regret the error." CBS News spokeswoman Sandy Genelius declined to identify the producer or say whether the person faced disciplinary action. |
cant wait for the retirement party...

this thread is hardly political discussion, dare say debate.
