Techno Like Hardcell & Grindvik - Square ?

Still trying to build a knowledgebase in techno, so far into these ppl

Beyer
Liebing
Michel De Hey
Hertz
picotto/ferri
robert natus
takkyu ishino
Grindvik/Hardcell
Joris Voorn

and the latter I've heard a tune played on radio 1 form them - Square which Is I think on the Drumcode label. Was wondering what people think to this style and if ne1 can name me more techno with melodies

cheers

would you care to enlighten me more with your many years of perfect experience that is way above anything us mere mortals can think of, or would you like to shut up and let people who know things and don't act like wankers to help me out here

Well here are some labels that might have some of this..."hard tech-trance"

Gas Records
BLQ Records
Gothic Records
Red Alert Records
Dance Pollution Records
BXR / Underground / Media
Stik via MOLTO SRL
Minimalistix

That is, i've heard the stuff on these labels be called "hard tech-trance", and that seems to be the best way to describe Square.

Hardcell always delivers quality stuff, check out:

Hardcell - The Play
Hardcell & Johan Bacto - Amount

Those are all hardstyle labels apart from BXR. If that's the kind of tune this is I would be gravely disappointed.

preach is one of my fave djs

Natus stuff is easy to hear when you've got a background in 240bpm stuff nowhere near as much as [N]uk|eu[Z] from this board but I figure thats how i can listen to natus stuff some of it's very good tho esp 'you did survive' where he brings a melody in too

hehe...Preach is def. one of my fav. techno producers
about Natus, i've heard some of his new EPs; to wit, Pain, Hardcore Salsa, and Taktische Defensive, and they certainly caused my ears some pain

ill check out 'you did survive,' perchance i'll reconsider my statement

cheers

quite probable that you won't like it still, but it's one of the easier ones to listen to

Posted by Radagast on Nov-14-2004 19:02:

Yeah you're probably right on that Hardstyle thing. Regardless, square ain't techno. Sorry, I don't consider something with a minute long breakdown in which is introduced a limp melody to be techno. Anyway, this is more for archival purposes than anything, but since techno topics turn up so rarely I suggest:

Takaaki Itoh, Fumiya Tanaka, Paul Damage/Paul Bailey/Paul "Damage" Bailey, Marco Carola, Surgeon, Heiko Laux, Jon Nuccle, Inigo Kennedy, Sterac, Mark Hawkins, Paul Birken, DJ Boss, 303f, Mike Humphries, Tadox, Energun 22, Thomas Krome, Damon Wild, Cari Lekebusch, Joel Mull, Shufflemaster, DJ Misjah, Neil Landstrumm...

Everything on datpunk (antony rothers label)

as verminator points out kowalski is good producer and the new double x album - alive has a few good tracks on it (namely city lights).

May not be your thing but the kompakt label has some good deep melodic techno. people like reignhart voigt, michael mayer and rex the dog (again more electro/trancey)

Other producers

justin berkovi
phil kieran
leandro gamez
d. diggler
dominik eulberg
taksi

and how can we all forget D.A.V.E. The Drummer?
check out the Mankind EPs...all good stuff, incl. tracks from the said dj, Mhonolink, Johan Bacto, Redhead, Patrick Skoog, etc.

http://www.discogs.com/label/Mankind

i think they're up to Mankind 27 or something...Discogs is infamous for not being contemporary with many a release

how do you compare ANY production by d.a.v.e the drummer and 'square' by hardcell & grindvik? it's as far away as you can possibly get from it..

anyways, the mankind series is 'only' up to #22 as discogs says.. #22 just came out as retail the other week.
#23 lined up, tbr in not so very long, new pratap release

i wasn't comparing it to square, as i've never heard the latter...the djs Ian mentioned, the Mankind EPs comprise several of them

as for the # of releases, maybe im wrong...although i could've sworn to have seen or heard newer ones after 22, perhaps as promos...not certain though

Posted by Ian on Nov-15-2004 10:48:

big thanks to Vermi for the suggestions, chesco also Gonna take me ages to find all these but I think it's gonna be worth it
