Any Given Sunday

I just watched this movie for the first time last night...and wow. Cinematography was amazing, Acting was amazing, and the soundtrack fit the movie perfectly.

Took you inside of the psyche of the football players..pretty sweet.

good movie, but i would recommend the TV show "Playmakers" in addition to it. Something else where you get into the mind of the players.

thats really strange you made a thread of this. We were just talking about that movie last night and its a little old to come up twice in a 12 hour period.

I quite agree. Rarely talked about when mentioning the best sports movies of all time, but Al Pacino, Jamie Fox, Bill Bellamy, the White Quarterback with the back spasms, the whore owner...all wonderfully cast (imo) and play their roles to perfection. There were alot of time when this movie couldve gone to total shit because of the writing or the film work, but the actors picked up the slack where it was weak. Especially powerful for me, as my team moved towns in what was essentially a secret jump (Fuck You Art Modell). Easily one of my top 3 or 4 sports movies of all time.

great film

bleh...if you want to see Pacino act well you could do much better than this. or any of the other actors in the flick...another bloated Oliver Stone project.

they coulda cut about 1/3 of the movie out and it would still be as average as it is|

you remember Bill Bellamy and forget Dennis Quaid? heh,..

Dennis Quaid is the perfect Dan Marino or John Elway,..

and if the speach Pacino makes before the final game doesnt get you fired up then im sorry but nothing else will... the music the words the timing everything was great,..

btw,. i liked how Lawerence Taylor was in it as well as cameos with Warren Moon as the coach of the LA team (in Pro Player stadium in Miami) and i cant remember the other random cameos but there were,.. anyway.. great flick,.. go see it

Cameron Diaz was subpar.. OH!, Charleston Heston as the commish...

Dont know exactly but i fairly certain its from the simpsons

Yes, theres alot of male nudity, but if you judge whether a movie is good or bad based on that alone, i feel bad for you.

Yes, this movie is overly violent, and dramatizes alot of the physical aspects of the game but that is, of course, Oliver Stone's point.

Yes, the players are portrayed as drug using, whore fucking men. Didnt you go to high school? What makes you think things would be so different in the pros? Not all the players participated in these parties, but all the "stars" did.

Yes the movie was a bit too long, but everything tied together nicely and the good guy beat greed in the end. Yes Pacino was a bit dry and kind of a "bitch" in this movie, but i think that was more true to the character than his poor acting.

Then again, I really like this movie. Im biased.

I'll tell you this, in any fight it's the guy whose willing to die whose gonna win that inch. And I know, if I'm gonna have any life any more it's because I'm still willing to fight and die for that inch, because that's what living is, the six inches in front of your face. Now I can't make you do it. You've got to look at the guy next to you, look into his eyes. Now I think ya going to see a guy who will go that inch with you. Your gonna see a guy who will sacrifice himself for this team, because he knows when it comes down to it your gonna do the same for him. That's a team gentlemen, and either, we heal as a team, or we will die as individuals. That's football guys, that's all it is. Now what are you gonna do?
