im pretty sure this was taken from a news broadcast or something.. so its just in there to add to the effect (guess thatd be the point all together)...

***a buncha satellite noises/radio static/etc*
"9 times the speed of sound"
"roger that and ive got...lots of gibberish tech talk"**

(some more build up with ambient music)

"I believe that this nation should commit itself, to acheiving the goal, before this decade is out, of landing a man on the moon and returning him safely to the earth. No single space project in this period will be more impressive to man kind or more important in the long range of exploration of space"

My favorite Trance quotes:

"No not really, it's gone now. The label trance is going to be classed as a form of popmusic of the last century."
--Mark Reeder

"When I think of "trance", I think of stuff that sounds like traxxx, but a lot of artists now days hate the word trance. Why? Because of the current trend and hype in Germany of this sound? It is not the same trance sound today which we were making in the early 90's anyway. Trance has become kommercial pop musik."
--Mark Reeder

"Trance for me is more like the basic channel stuff, hypnotic and trance-inducing. The word trance has been bastardised to mean something totally different to what I originally intended and hoped it to be. To be trancy a record has to be monotonous almost, a long sequence without pause without a masssive breakdown, up and down. This isn't trance, you can't fall into a trance when your emotions are being dragged up and down."
--Mark Reeder

"It gotten too commercial...like everything that becomes big...nothing new is getting big since the people are focused on just one sound...nobody is pushing or supporting new sounds. To me Robert Miles "Children" was the beginning of the end of trance as it was known as something good and inspiring. What they call "Progressive" now - to me sounds pretty much like some minimal Goa Trance...I like to think of more Techno orientated "Trance" which is lately developing and once again is not something completely new, but a good mix of styles that I like...far away from the Pop-Trance!"
--Oliver Lieb on Epic/Anthem Trance

"It's not something I listen to myself, but it's not like I'm really bothered by it because, if anything, it helps introduce the things that I'm doing to people who probably wouldn't notice them otherwise. Trance has that easily digestible format that people from the suburbs or whatever can understand, and I think that maybe after listening to trance and other more commercial forms of music, they might start to appreciate other forms of electronic music like house and techno. It's basically a good thing. Trance is a gateway music (laughs)."

i can't quite remember if it was pvd or oakenfold who said it but back in like... 1994 it was said that "techno is rapidly evolving into trance"

"once again, what we have is, a few absolutely set things, you know five strings, and a certain number of permutations, but within those permutations, infinite variety"

There some good stuff said by Mr. van Dyk on the inside flap of 'The Politics of Dancing'.

Totally agree on all the Mark Reeder quotes, it's what I've been thinking these past few years.

you've got a point, what i call trance now is nothing like what i called trance in the mid 90s
i miss the mid 90s style trance, totally different

i also miss the late 90s trance, which was the best music i've ever heard, in general
i like the emotional side of it

there's one quote i like so much, i turned it into a poster...

Posted by eckmek on Nov-16-2004 16:55:

"That is not trance, it's pop music. There have just been a couple of very smart producers who saw real trance music was popular, took a few elements from it and put it in cheesy pop hits. Something like DJ Sammy 'Heaven' is electronic pop music and it's made for a whole different reason to why trance producers make music.
"Does it bother me? Yes, it does. It's a short-sighted thing, they're sucking everything out of the music to make a quick buck and it ruins the sound. When there are people who are making trance for the sheer love of the music, it bothers me that people think so lightly of it. These people put out a cheesy record and sterotype people all over the world who are into trance as liking cheesy music." --- Ferry Corsten, DJ Magazine no29/vol3 29 nov - 12 dec 02

That's what i call a quote

"i just want to be more unique to myself and what I do then being number 1, 2, 5, 10, 14, 30 and you know, have a little, you know flavor, busted custard could be a flavor, that might be my flavor, it might not be as good as vanilla, but you can get vanilla anywhere, but where the hell can you get busted custard in las vegas?" - frankie bones
