Christian Beijer - Intrusion (Deep Stealth Rmx)

Hi guys! I've been around for awhile, but haven't been registered until recently. This forum really kicks ass, and there are alot of great people here I see. I didn't really know if I wanted to post my tracks here, since there are so many great producers here! lol But I guess there must be room for us n00bs too.. I know the track has quite alot of distortion, and it's not properly EQ'ed and many other things. I have problems applying suitable compression, in order to balance the mix like it should. I'll learn this eventually. I made this a few months ago, so I'd probably manage to make it sound better, but let me know what you guys think.

btw: I'm an FL user

The track

Man,this is pretty good ,the intro is pretty dark, imo I think the doru sounds have to much reverb, dunno like kinda crash with the rest of the things, nice pads at 3.19 but maybe u could used more the low,High filter knobs imo ,at 5.07 turns very soft,in overall the structure it's well done but my speakers were shaking at parts with some Freqs, keep the good work broda .
Kopi =o.

I completely agree, I'm a reverb abuser! I plan to rework the whole track in some months, I'll sort out those issues you mentioned. I'm pretty lazy with automation so I'll definately make some more variation. The melody should have some more variation too. Heh, it sounds like I'm reviewing myself!
Appreciate the comments! Thanks alot!
btw: I only have a set of headphones, so mixing can be abit tricky sometimes.

LOL..me too ,do you use the edit option for auto?I find it easyer than record the movimient of the knobs .

Hey Beijer - this is really good stuff - maybe a bit much too reverb - although I must hold up my hands - Im guilty myself! Although - in the breakdown the reverb is initially working well with the atmosphere in the song. I love that synth that comes in at about 4.30. Nice choral type pads too.
Less reverb on the kick - make it more prominent and increase the hi -hat maybe. The synth pads are great by the way. Keep it up!!

Thanks for your comments Ricky!
I do use the edit function for the automation, but that's rather for editing the shape of the curves - after automating realtime with the knobs. When the cpu is reaching 80-90%, this gets pretty frustrating. I only have a pentium 4 laptop with 256mb ram, so things get ugly pretty quick.

I'm diggin the intro. Is the lo-fi sound intentional. It has to be, because the actual track is at 192 kbps.

Love the bassline.

Nice percs, too.

Bleh, you almost lost me with that kick roll. Snare rolls are cool, but kick rolls like that make me sick.

Eh, your bass seems slightly off-key on the higher notes.

The breakdown seems really muffled. It might be the heavy phaser. Try to get more high end stuff, at least.

That progression sounds really familiar. I think I've heard it somewhere before.

That incessant high end hissing noise is starting to just get annoying. Aesthetically, I don't like it all that much. You should make it more staccato. That'd be kickass.

Why did the synth cut out at 6:49? That sounded really ugly.

Looking back, I liked your melody and chord progression. You just need to keep out that hissing extended release. Good track, though.

I agree with everything you said.
The lo-fi sound was indeed intentional!
I never really confidant about that kickdrum roll, I do hate them aswell. I have no idea why I left it there! Pretty cheesy stuff. When u have listened to the track like 100 times, you somehow loose perception on what's good and what's not.
The break sounds very muffled, it's due to horrible EQ(too much midrange boost), and simply the nature of that exact pad - needs some filtering.
If you find out what track you find the progression similar to, let me know!

This is a real nicely done tune, except for the mastering and that lo-fi feel you gave it. Sending you a PM so we can talk more about it and the structure a little more.

You told me you were a noob Beijer LOL
Me myself is a big reverbfan, always been since I think it adds a dimension and room to the sound you got a really good melody there!
only thing that comes to my mind is that the cutoff may be too high on some sounds, or that they sound too bright. but it might be my sensitive ears too

keep it up
