You know how Nalin & Kane took a fairly average track, Da Hool - "Meet her at the Loveparade", and turned it into a classic? And how 666 remixed Pat Jam - "The Squeeler" into something worth listening to? These kind of achievements is seldomly appreciated by the masses, so I would like this forum to pay tribute by creating a "Best Remix"-kind of thread.
Just to get the ball rolling: The remix that swept me of my feet was the Klubbheads version of Vengaboys - "Boom Boom Boom".
PS. Please note that the most impressive remix doesn't need to be your favourite track

Yo man,
The Pronti & Kalmani remixes of DJ jurgens Better Off Alone are the best remixes.

Posted by TigerClaw on Oct-31-2000 19:59:

Cool

I would have to say that the best remixes come from either Dumonde & DJ Jamx and DJ Scot Project.

Thumbs up

One of the best remix I can think of right now would be Airscape remix of a Vengaboys song I think it's Vegaboys - Kiss (not sure)
well you know... the remix Tiesto played @ Energy 2000

Madison Avenue - Don't Call Me Baby (Disco Babes From Outta Space remix) is top quality stuff.

Whitney Houston - It's not right but it's OK (Club 69 Club Remix) is damn good also - huge kick drum.

Posted by Jukx on Oct-31-2000 23:22:

What do you think about the Klubbheads RMX of Dj Jean - Love Come Home???
that mix kicks!!!!!!!

Posted by Dj Furee on Nov-01-2000 03:50:

I say a wicked remix is Louie Vega's French Kiss by Josh Wink but this song was good in the first place!!!!!

One remix that is wicked is that wizard of ozz song Somewhere over the rainbow, dj marusha has a remix and there's another one that I like better...

My favourite remixes are usually the drum n bass versions, like Ganjakru remixing olive and grooverider and aphrodite remixes...

By the way, to all you dutch and belgian and other countries around there, is drum n bass and jungle popular there, do you guys like it??? just wondering

Posted by Tich on Nov-01-2000 04:22:

Wink

A couple of remixes I think deserve a mention are :
Olive - Outlaw (Space Brothers Remix)

Luce Drayton(???) - To Be Loved (Disco Citizens Remix)

(Anyone know anything about Luce Drayton?)

See Ya,
Tich

This is kinda hard since there is more remixes then actual original songs out there but i usually enjoy tracks mixed by Hi-Gate or Yomanda just to name a couple that come to my head. "Everybody ft Boy Wunda (Yomanda mix)" thats prolly one of my favourite mixes. And also i cant leave out "Black Legend - You see the trouble with me" and "My First Last and Only", i never liked Barry White before i heard those two remixes

Posted by GLiTCH on Nov-01-2000 05:52:

My favorite remix artists would have to be:

Transa for their sweet remixes of Sparkles, X-Santo, Tenchi and much more.
Dumonde for remixes of 2000, Universal Nation and much more.

Posted by Morbius on Nov-01-2000 07:01:

Cool

Hmm, I'd say my all time favorite remix is the transa mix of x-santo (sorry, I'm not original, I know it was mentioned before )
The original version sucked.... the remix blew me away though!
And honorary second goes to aphrodite's mix of dope man by NWA, good stuff!

Cool

to answer dj furee's question:
By the way, to all you dutch and belgian and other countries around there, is drum n bass and jungle popular there, do you guys like it???

I'm dutch and I'd say it isn't really popular amongst the big audience like trance/club/house. I'd say there is more a small group that like it. They do however organise lots of parties. They're far smaller than the trance parties like innercity, sensation, trance energy etc but they take place more frequently.
Hope I answered your question.

It suprises me that I can't seem 2 find Tiesto amongst the best remixers here. What do u guys think of his remixes of kid vicious, jaimy & kenny d, green court, abnea, delerium, lunatic asylum, bt and subtle by design? I think that r masterpieces.
I also just love the yomanda (judge jules + paul masterson) remixes.

later

hehe.. nopeeee altho paul masterson is or part of Yomanda, Jules isn't BUT Jules and Masterson are part of Hi-Gate..

latez

about the drum n bass, I thought so.. I guess this genre is doing the best in North America and UK .. it's pretty big where I live, personally I really like it..

Posted by Jukx on Nov-01-2000 14:11:

to DJ FUREE:
I think you mean Somewhere Over The Rainbow by Cosmic Gate (vocal edit)...
Yesterday I downloaded Jean Live @ Trance Energy 30-09 and he played a sample of (I think) Cosmic Gate - Somewhere Over The Rainbow (vocal edit.) Searched for it on napster and I can't stop listening to that song now!!!!! so beautifull!!!

And to answer your question about Drum 'n Bass/Jungle:
Here in holland drum 'n bass/jungle certainly is popular! (not as popular as trance/club though) In my hometown there are a lot people who like this music!! but the scene still is a bit underground/alternative...

Posted by Dj Furee on Nov-01-2000 14:32:

Thank you SOOOOOo much!!! I've been trying to figure out that mix for a while!!!

I would have to say one of my favorit mixes is Hennes&Cold-Second Trip(Dj Scot Project Mix)..Everytime I hear this in a Club I go Crazzzzzzzy!
Another phat mix is Everybody (Yomanda Mix)

Ferry Corsten and Matt Darey both do some awesome remix work. If you look at many of the MoS CDs and other CDs mixed by the best DJs these two come up quite often (or an alias of theirs does!)

maybe these DJs agree - thats why they use them?!

Posted by trancaholic on Nov-02-2000 13:49:

This thread has really put some tracks on my wishlist (life is hard when you can't access napster because of a proxy), but I think some suggestions have missed the point of best *remix* and not best *remixer*.

Although I really like the work of DJ Tiesto, JamX & DeLeon and Ferry Corsten, I don't think they have ever made something radically different (and great) from something mediocre. One can always be sure that a remix carrying the name of one of the above will be great (and you know the style before you've listened to it), but then again the original track was usually good in the first place.

Am I wrong???

Posted by schwin on Nov-04-2000 19:08:

the Airscape mix of Scooter - I'm Your Pusher turns a shitty tune into one of the best ones ever made. Just listen to the differences...

Posted by knoxy on Nov-04-2000 20:41:

Talking

i agree that matt darey is a great remixer.

his work on the tracks:

blockster - grooveline
planet perfecto - not over yet
atb - till i come

he even reworked gabrielle - rise into a top tune. CRW have also done a couple of decent remixes.

True say, a remix can't do wonders for a tune that's total crap... You may not like the original track as much as you do the remix, but the original still had that potential that the remixes really bring out..if a shit tune all of the sudden becomes a wicked one that means it's undergone more than just a remix...

still remixes can be cool I dunno if I'm writing this in the right place now but I've been listening to my mp3s (ones that I listen to once and forget about so I loaded everything on winamp so I can listen to them, almost 700 mp3s!!!) and just heard Matt Darey presents DSP's song from Russia with love ( I have the solarstone remix).. it's something special!!!Also I just listened to a song called from Aria by Dido and it's mixed by armin van buuren so u know it's sweet for sure (nice vocals)!!! I know u peeps must love westbam, westbam vs.red jerry's song called wizards of the sonic is pretty cool too (the matt darey remix ofcourse)... I also like Sister Bliss and Rollo's mix of Moby's Honey.. so dun get mad if these tracks are really old!! I can't keep up with anything anymore!! but hey good music is good music right!

I don't think a lot of people here will agree with me, but in my opnion the best remixers are to be found in the UK 2Step/Speedgarage scene, rather then the trance scene. These guys really know how to transform a shitty pophit into a whole new song.
I guess names like Dem2, Tuff Jam and Booker-T are unknown by you. Maybe the name Todd Edwards does ring a bell?
