Vocal Intro
I need some help guys, I am the opening dj at a pretty big event in a few weeks (this is my first big gig) and I have a decent idea of the tracks i want to play. I really want to open up with some cool vocals and then start into my set, just to set the tone for the night, and because I think its cool. Do you guys have any suggestions for new tracks with cool spoken words or vocals in them?
Well, it's not exactly the newest track anymore, but how about Suzy Solar - "Ocean of Love"? It's got a great openeing buildup and the kind of vocals you might be looking for.

Ummmm
each club has its own atmosphere.... you need to cater to that crowd...
BT - Paris (feat. Way Out West)
bt shame wow mix
My sets typically start off with progressive breaks, then into progressive trance, then all out bangin trance by the time im done..if that helps any
Michael Jackson Thriller (Original)
That will get everyone's attention
Find a song that has a movie quote in it.
not saying this, but using it as an example....
Pull some dialogue off of BLOW (Johnny Depp); a good 30 second quote from the movie and then go right into Rue - Disco Shit where he has a quote in it.
Maybe a different track with that concept.
or maybe thats gay.
Use scar face!

I didnt want any gimmicks..just something that will grab ppls attention and set the mood.
DJ Hooligan - Hear You now (GRand Chillas Remix)
Sounds really good when you mix out of it with a break beat.
I have no input, but what's the gig and when/where is it. I'm pretty close to you so I might try to check it out.
Do What You Want? Infusion Breaks Mix?
edit: Halogen vs. Blue Haze feat. Nash T - On a Bridge (remixes)
Infusion - Legacy (Junkie XL)
Holy crap. I love Rue-Disco Shit. I play that all the time at the martini bar that I play at.

This is the event:

fucking hell, after visiting new orleans last year id never go back there again
golden scan - halcyon. it was used on one of those trance compilantion cds(cant remeber the name of the cd). kind of hard to find a copy though.
cant think of anyhting else will post some more later.
Greed feat. Lesley - Strange World (Lemon 8 Mix) Guaranteed to be loved.
Origene - Sanctuary (Harry Lemon Mix) good response always
Luke Chable and NuBreed - One Day (like the four to the floor mix better)
The hyper mix of that Sarah McLachlan track (Stupid could I be, etc..)
As long as you open with a solid track, no one's really gonna care about the vocals you use to start off with. I understand where you're coming from, just remember that the first track will grab their attention, so make it good.
Deep Dish - Flashdance is good too.
