New AVP?

Anyone know at all if there are plans of making a third AVP? I haven't heard anything...

i doubt it i cant really see any point in making one or even why they would want to

Yeah, AVP2 isn't really all tha old....

maybe when some new consoles start coming out, and they get a brand new kick-ass engine, it might be VERY cool the see some AVP action, but in the meantime, I don't think graphics have improved enough (overall) to make it worth making another one.

It's not like there was some epic storyline or something.

Have you played the AVP2 expansion? That's pretty neat...it's hard though.

What about an AvP game with the doom 3 engine?

Yeah, well, gamers tend to bitch a lot when companies pump out sequels that are sub-par, especially when they all have the same graphical engine to them. It's just not time for another AVP.

Oh, yeah....

Thanks, dude.

I haven't played the game yet, but I've heard nothing but good things about it.

So why did they make DOOM3 then??

My point was that, though engines look better now than they did 3 years ago (circa AvP 2), it's still not enough difference to be worth it. Now the difference from Doom 2 and Doom 3 is what you should remake a game for, but AvP still has very decent graphics with today's standards.

why do u think? i think uve deliberatly misunderstood my point remaking avp2 with a new engine would not improve the game.
doom is years old i dont even want to know what engine they used to make that

I personally would like to see another AVP game within the next few years mainly because I like the story, the series, the characters, the concept, etc. Although, I do agree that they should take thier time and work with an advanced engine. The game even now has great grafics and sound, and is a lot of fun to play. That's the main reason why i want to see another...it's just 'cause it was so much fun (and scary when you're a marine). Not to mention, playing AVP 2 multiplayer or in a LAN party is great. I play AVP2 with my buddies once in a while in a LAN..I usually play the predator versus 3 or 4 marines..it's wicked cool...no other game offers that..so it would definatly be worth bringing an AVP 3 in the future. AVP fans will appreciate it.

so what exactly are the major diffences other than graphics between doom 2 and doom 3 - the genral objective of the game still remians the same - run around - shoot some baddies and create loads of gore - run around some more! Perhaps my views are a little biased but then Doom's never really floated my boat!

Oh, the graphics were the only reason I could think of, actually. But that was exactly my point...

vs.

I'd say it was worth the difference.

Wheras the AvP2 engine is still very decent.

But what the hell, if they came out with another AvP game, I'd probably buy it.
