You're entitled to your opinion, however wrong you might be...

Exclamation

not entirely true...

there r some German/English djs i luv 2

the Dutch style however rules big time!!

Posted by cheesey on Jan-29-2001 13:55:

True, hve to agreed, currently the dutch hve the best trance, esp. if u r toking abt epic uplifting trance(which i think someothers consider cheesey trance). Again, given the rapid rise of Djs like Marco V & Yves De Ruyters, who's know where the future is heading. However, all in all, i prefer United Nation Trance..

When you speak of trance , then you are speaking , in my opinion , of one country.
Trance is a culture , and everybody who loves trance , and RESPECT! trance are eachother's brother or sister.

Posted by Sandman on Jan-29-2001 18:02:

Many good Dj's are from the Netherlands. Then you have a few others good dj's, not from the Netherlands..
But for now dutch dj's rule... lets hope it stays that way

Posted by trancaholic on Jan-29-2001 20:54:

I'm kinda curious: Who *is* all these great DJs? Tiesto and AvB?

Just for the record Yves Deruyter is Belgian and I'm very proud to say it!We can't say about many known dj's that they're Belgian, the other very famous one is Johan Gielen(yes I know ,lives in Holland, but look on his passport! )

Amen doombringer! but still there's a difference in styles, but in the US there are different states with different laws!

Posted by agi on Jan-29-2001 22:05:

Why cyberia have you seen johan gielen's passport ??

Peace

Hehe , Yeah...
Father/Rabbi Doombringer over here

Posted by Dwingo on Jan-30-2001 09:47:

How about Ferry Corsten. I didn't like him at all at first, but he's feally starting to make a 'rise.' (again)
Especcially when cooperating with Armin van Buuren.

Posted by skywarp on Jan-30-2001 11:49:

Don't want to sound arrogant, but it seems that some Dutch people on this board are a little overly patriotic ... hmm.

DoomBringer, that was a nice comment, a little too idealistic, but you certainly have a point there.

Couldn't agree more. I'm still waiting for some names of all these great DJs (and I don't think that Ferry Corsten is a DJ - he's a producer).

Never heard a set of the man?????Ferry corsten live at this,Ferry corsten live at that,....
The man is all that,he produces ; makes songs,he's playing his but of on almost all great trance events in holland and he even finds the time to make some remixes,if that's what you understand under not being a dj,than he is no dj
and if you are waiting for some names,I don't think it would take that long, all those Hollanders will reply with tons of names
But according to my opinion,Germany has also a whole lot of great dj's!

Agi>>*lol*

Posted by trancaholic on Jan-30-2001 20:15:

No, I've never seen (or heard) a set with Ferry Corsten. Didn't know that. You learn something every day, I guess. And yes I did count on all these dutch people to list those DJs, but so far to no avail. Maybe tomorrow

Posted by djelloun on Jan-30-2001 20:35:

Idea you could be right cyberia...

Yes I think so , Germany is surely one of the most important countries where Trance was founded !! Think of Oliver Lieb, Paul van Dyk, Sven Vth (before he played his hard Stuff), Kid Paul, Ralf Hildenbeutel, Cosmic Baby, Taucher, Talla 2XLC, DJ DAG, Andry Nalin (Nalin and Kane!!), Torsten Stenzel and all others I forgot now...they are big Names in Trance History and they are responsable for the Trance we hear now...never forget that!!

Posted by Koud_Pils on Jan-30-2001 20:47:

well Okee
First I have to replay to something that's thrue, Ferry Corsten is a Producer......BUT like many other producer, they do some good things on the weels of steel, so the DJ sport is in their vains to.
Give a good exaple: Ferry Corsten Live at Innercity.
I was their and it was great.

You want some names of Dutch dj's

-DJ Tiesto, no doubt......
But if you go to the discussion 'producer-dj', he's a producer to, he is one of the Rank 1 members, one of the Black Hole Label members, Allure and Kamaya Painters.
SO CAN A PRODUCER BE A GOOD DJ? :-)

DJ Jean, he isn't my fav.
At his IT time, he was great but now it's only $$$$ what's count when you say 'jean'
At Innercity he was okee, but not perfect, but that's no DJ I think.

Marco V
Saw him twice.
His session at Innercity was the best I ever heared, only respect for this man

DJ Jurgen.
Didn't saw him when he played some stuff but I got two cd's of the man, very nice, feels good.

Eric E
Well, saw him twice, first time he was good, second time I was drunk so uhhmmm I supppose he was good to cause people told me I had a great time......wel my body had :-)))))

Johan Gielen, well he was born in Belgium and he got a belguium passport...........BUT he is living in Holland, and I saw him 2 times and he is GREAT!!!!!!!

and so you got more like Marc van dale, Klubbheads(it's a team, but great ....and dutch:-) )

well greetzz from Koud Pils

So he is still a Belgian, let's never forget that!!!The only reason 'cause he lives there is because it's more practical for his career! You are from where you are born! The moment that he changes his IDcard in an hollandIDcard, you can call him Dutch, but please we only have two very famous great dj's(we have more great dj's but they aren't famous in the world only back here!),so leave them to us,don't be so greedy ,you have tons of great famous dj's!

Posted by ohm on Jan-30-2001 21:31:

I think we're getting into semantics here. If a person spins, then they can be considered a DJ whether they are also a producer or not.

The dutch DJ's are by far my favorites(especially if you count Gielen). On my recent trip to Europe, I added Corsten's Trance nation 1 and 2 Cd's to my collection, and they are sweet. Trance nation 4 I had already and is one of my favorites. Of course I've never seen any Dutch Dj's live, but I live in West Michigan so it's not by choice.

Posted by trancaholic on Jan-31-2001 10:53:

Thanx for responding Koud_Pils. I have to admit, though, that only Marco V is my cup of tea, so I still have to disagree with your opening statement

Posted by Suzaku on Jan-31-2001 12:27:

Just to clarify.... Tiesto is NOT part of Rank 1. Rank 1 is E.B. De Goeij and P.W. Bervoets.

Posted by Gekhous on Jan-31-2001 14:29:

Exclamation

those names sound familiar...

didnt they used to produce gabber??

Posted by ambrus07 on Jan-31-2001 15:18:

dutch djs

Here's the most popular dutchmen:

dj tiesto
ferry corsten
armin van buuren
sven maes
sven vath
timo maas
johan gielen (sort of)
marc van linden (I think so, im not sure)

BUT look who's NOT dutch: paul van dyk, paul oakenfold, judge jules, sasha, digweed, oliver lieb, picotto, piu, dj quicksilver, sash!, lost witness, art of trance, resistance d, basement jaxx, mario de bellis, nicholas bennison... the list goes on.

Dutch dj's are great, but only in their own specific 'epic trance' genre.. i think the rest of the world more than balances out the dutch juggernaut.
