CMX3000 Disc Problems

My Pioneer came through the post early this morning, and iv already experienced a problem. it plays normal cds, promos, and stuff fine.. but any cd i have ever burned it will not take. anything my friend andy has ever burned to cd for me it will take. when i insert one of my CD-Rs, i get the following onscreen display -

'E-7210'

i use Nero 6 to burn my cds, and im using Phillips CD-R80 cdrs

any ideas? i finalise, not overburning, and i tried burning at lower speed

firstly, what model is it?

second, are you burning audio or mp3?

third, have you looked in your manual to see if the error codes are listed in the troubleshooting section?

you should always burn your cd's at 4x by the way..

its a pioneer CMX3000

the error code stands for ''TOC READ ERROR'' and the possible cause stated in the manual is ''Cracked disc''

the discs are brand new so cant be cracked... and they work on my stereo too.

yeah they are audio cds not mp3 cds too

i posted about this cd player aaaaaages ago
I used to use one at one of my venues

I posted at the time that it had erm issues with some CDRs... nothing can be done about it.
Mine were brand new too-and also worked on eveything else (including an old denon 2000 which is notorious for not reading certain cdrs).

All i can suggest it trying a different brand of cd

i am a spastic arn't i... lol *remember the thread title*

but yeah, by the sounds of it you should try a different make of cd-r. aree these cd-r's that you are using made purely for audio?

My CMX would appear to play all CDr's I have tried in it.....
and i only use cheap cd's and freeware converters and burners!!

Posted by tu_face on Nov-19-2004 11:57:

this is what i was about to point out. we have an old cd player downstairs that doesn't recognise expensive 'purely audio' cd-rs, yet it will recognise one of the 100 for 12.99 cd-r's that i have now.

could it be my CD Recorder? i mean iv tried every CD-R in the house that someone else has burnt and it works perfect.

just confused me a bit...

Posted by DJ-MarkHills on Nov-19-2004 21:38:

hmm.. im thinking its definitly my Cd recorder thats causing the problems... i found a Limp bizkit cd that a mate copied me like 5 years ago before i discovered EDM... anyways besides the fact its a CDR, its scratched and smudged to shit and it loads up perfect.

ok so if im now concentrating on my cd recorder, where do i start looking for the problem? i mean it burns cds that work fine on my stereo, but why not my CMX3000?

any ideas?

have yo tried different types of cd-r burnt in your recorder? its more likely to be that.. unless it was a very cheap recorder that is.

Try burning in Disc-at once if that doesnt work, do track as once...see if that helps any, ive had a similar problem with an mp3 cd player.

sadly.. nothing seems to work

am i wrong in thinking the only thing i can do is replace my cd recorder?

$20 you didn't just do what the members of this forum just told you to do. I bet it would work if you did

i had already tried everything they mentioned before that, and i tried again after they said it. its something to do with my cd writer writing bad toc im sure of it..

Posted by tu_face on Nov-21-2004 13:55:

the only real way to tell is to take one of your blank cd's round to a mates house (who has a cd writer) and burn a cd at 4x on their writer, then take it home and try it on your cd deck.

if it works, then it is your writer.

i reckon you may be right

Having had two cds stop dead last night, and others refuse to play on certain players, i reckon my burner is on the piss.

Having said that tho, it wasnt just my cds the cxm had problems with.
A combination methinks
