Dunno Promo releases

I ordered last week 2 vinyls from buythatrecord.com. I received it yet, and it contains 2 promo vinyls:
Filterheadz pres. Orange 3 - In Your Eyes
E-Craig - Smoke.
I am confused now, do the promo pressing have the same sound quality as the official release? Is a difference between official and promo pressing? (except the sleeves)

I think I can post my 2nd question here too.
What do you guys do when a vinyl comes without inner/outer sleeve?
Can somebody suggest me good outer sleeves (the thick, not thin ones) & inner sleeves?

1) the difference between a promo and an official release, is that the promo's are sent out to DJ's and record shops to get a feel of how the track will sell/go down in the clubs before they spend the big money on a full release. there won't be much difference between the sound quality of the promo and the official release, althouhg in some cases they will pay a bit more for mastering for vinyl.

promo's are cool, it means you have the track before it is out

2) if a record comes without a sleeve, i usually put it in one which i buy from my local record store. there are lots of online places which sell sleeves on their own. the more you buy the cheaper they get

But I have no experience with buying sleeves online. Can you suggest me a site? I ordered once inner sleeves from chemicals, but the description on their page wasnt correct. I got those shitty VEDASLEEVES

ok, so somewhere still has a promo in stock from last year i should have included the word 'usually'..

i know www.htfr.co.uk sell them, but i would despise giving them money. plus they will probably try and charge you 8 postage for them, fuck that.

these ones at chemical are what you are after, available in black or white:

I think these are the thin ones...

they are card sleeves. is that not what you want?

have you tried googling?

I see they are card sleeves. But some card sleeves are thinner than others. For example, when you get a release without inner sleeve, the outer sleeve is thinner. The releases with inner sleeves are packed in thicker outer sleeves.

unfortunately almost every other record these days is a "promo" which has destroyed the value of the concept

There are two types of outer sleeves, one is just a flat one which generally have a hole in the middle for the label to show, and the other ones are thicker because they have an edge, like a book. I've never seen the thicker ones for sale on there own, only the thinner type. The inner sleeves are generally paper sleeves for extra protection.

Ive only seen HTFR selling a good range of vinyl sleeves in the UK. Anyone got any more suggestions?
