Should I Get Half Life 2 ??? (Is my PC good enough?)
hey hey
ok i gotta big question
this is my computer
P4 2.7 gigaherz, 512 ram, ati radeon 9200 SE 128 mb video card
NOW
when i played doom 3,
it was horribly slow (not that i care, the game sucks
)
but now half life 2, the sequal to my all time favorite game just came out and im wondering if my computer will be good enough for it?
i dont care if the graphics arent the best but i just want it running smoothly, no choppy lag :S i hate that
so is my computer good enough?
let me know peeps
thanx
you will need better video, thats for sure, your card doesnt have enough guts, get a geforce fx5700 ($130) those cards work great, especially with there ddr2 ram
if you have <$200 to spend, i would wait for the geforce 6600gt Agp to come out. It equals and surpases the performance of a 9800pro and fx5950 while not breaking the bank. check it out on hardocp.

hey guys thanx but i didnt ask for top of the line
i just wanna know if itll work for me atleast, and if itll work without being jumpy (if i have to put it on lowest i dont care, i just dont want it to jump, so will it?)
Your system can SO handle it. Your card might not have as much 'oomph' as the 9800 or the X800, but it's definitely good enough to run the game, I think. Even if you have to put the texture pack at medium (like me) just to get the game to run really smoothly, things still look beautiful.
It's a great game, and would run perfectly fine on your system. If you don't mind sacrificing some eye-candy for smoothness of play (you COULD run it on high texture, but I find that sound skips a lot when I do that), then I'd definitely recommend going out and buying this game NOW!
ok then, i hope itll work
1 hour count down till get it wooooooo hooooo
half life 1 was OMG!!!! now this game looks 10000 times better
If you like the first one, you are going to absolutely LOVE this one.
If you LOVE the first one...well, this one might just kill you.

be warned, there is a HUGE amount of messing about involved to get the thing going. the steam software is SHOCKING.
HL1 your favourite game of all time? There's got to be something wrong with you people. It was good at most, but the BEST? No way.
Steam isn't so bad. I downloaded the game right off steam over night last weekend, then on tuesday morning at 3am (right as the activation servers went up) it started automatically unlocking the game... took 10 minutes. Everyone's been complaining since then about the unlock times... but obviously Steam was swamped. It's probably died down now.
it will run fine

Yes...your computer will eat that game for breakfest
hl2 can run on dx7 cards fine, so ur good to go mate!
also i dont know wtf people are bitching so much about steam, i never had any problems whatsoever since it came out, including when hl2 was released. it works perfectly fine.
i guess my faff mainly came from having a 56k modem.. but its a rediculous concept anyway, they should have known the servers were going to be over-ruin and made alternate arrangements.
either way, the game FUCKING ROCKS. get it, worry about buying a system later

If you are willing to deal with that abomination called "Steam", then go for it.

HL2's scare factor is a playground compared to doom3.
