Please help a newbie to create this basic trance bassline + sound..

Hi,

I am new to PC music production (only used a workstation so far) and VSTi's and I was wondering if somebody could help me create following basic trance bassline + sound.

I would like to recreate the first bar (it gets repeated then) of following track: http://www.cuepoint.info/78056_sounds/28056.ram

The arp seems to be 1/16th notes 2xup 2xdown repeated, however I am not sure.

However what is more difficult is recreating the bass sound. I have following VSTi's: Superwave P8, Superwave Pro, Superwave Trance Pro, Vanguard, Albino 2, Z3ta+, Triangle II. I checked all the presets and none sound like the bass in the above song.

I suppose I have still alot to learn about VSTi's, but could somebody to get me started who has any of the above VSTi's please recreate that bass sound and post the patch (.fxp format cause I use Cubase 5) so I can see how to do this. Perhaps also post an mp3 demo to see if it sounds the same as in the song. I would really appreciate it so I could get started with this bass sound. Thanks to anybody who would be so kind to help with this!

you can easily make that bass sound with albino because ive made similar sounds out of it. you will need to program it though. do not rely on the presets. each of those synths can do far far far more than what it demonstrates in its presets. ill fiddle later and then post the settings here but i need food first.

speaking of presets, what is that song? cuz it sounds like the lead and pad are both virus presets

Hi Derivative,

If you can recreate that sound, could you please post the settings? Thanks! If possible, could you post it as patch in .fxp format so I am sure it will sound like intended? If you gonna make it with Albino 2, you can perhaps also include arp settings in the patch, allthough I am not sure if the sequence in the song is an arp or a sequenced bassline.

By the way, that song is: Armin van Buuren - Burned with desire (Ronski Speed dub).
