Now who got da funk??? Roger S!

Whoa...

What a night! The S-man returns and kicked my ass all over the club!

You know its a good night when:

- you arrive really early and people are already dancing

- they give you free champagne (wasnt the best tasting but it did the job)

- the infamous Crystal shows up and starts misbehaving

- Your knee is scraped, your back hurts and you have no idea how the hell it happened.

- you look at your friends when an amazing beat kicks in and they are doing nothing but smiling.

Whats up to Tatgirl and Graham who partied for a bit before their early departure.

Thanks to baystreetboi and alex for their accomdation. Alex, thanks for the hospitality and Jay thanks for putting up wit my drunken antics...

girllovintvibe - i thought i recognized you from your pictures but i wasnt sure if it was you, didnt know your real name and didnt want to look like an ass LOL...

Creamfields (Sandra) was also throwin it down!

(its not a "proper" review but its how i saw it....)

What a night!!!

how did the club compare to the old Lotus .. ?

Posted by Allegory on Nov-21-2004 18:52:

Reasons I hate Arc/Lust/Lotus

- 45 minute line-up for coat check
- getting to the coat check counter to be told, "oops, sorry, we're all filled up right now, you'll have to wait"
- 15 minutes later finally getting the ticket stub
- the only ATM was broken
- the woman for admissions who tried to tell me it was 1:00 and I had to pay 70 for 2 tickets, when it was clearly 12.53 (after standing in a 5 person line for 15 minutes outside, and 15 minutes in another line just to pay inside)
- the women's bathroom was always out of toilet paper and smelled VERY bad
- the men's washroom had a 1/2 inch deep puddle of what Mercure says he hopes was just dirty, muddy water
- movement inside the venue sucked, with doorways between areas where 2 people could barely pass (jesus, I figured they'd at least have knocked down a few sections of wall)

Reasons I really like Roger Sanchez

- his music kicks ass! (and I'm not even really into house...)

Wierd. except that small hallway i didnt have any of those problems. Chalk it up to bad luck?

I was at Lotus Aug 2003 for Digweed and I do agree with Allegory, the place is a dump. Judging from her review nothing much has changed. Digweed's awesome set was the only thing that stopped me from leaving and I'm sure it was Roger's set that made most of you stay. Hope you guys had fun.

Posted by Jayx1 on Nov-21-2004 19:35:

its way better than lotus was.

i give the venue a 6/10. the washroom was grose, and the line did take some time for no apparent reason. but other then that, it was amazing!!!

Roger the S FUckin Guy!!! wholey shit he had me on my feet the entire night! i got there just after 11ish, and the chick dj on was dropping some cool jazzy house. (i thought it was funny the second last song she dropped was bad boy bill - costa del sol when roger is ready to come on, and bad boy bill is playing just a few blocks over.

ROger easily gets a 10/10 from me. I couldn't believe how many songs i recognized in his set!!! so much quality. i really like that new jesse garcia track. i forget the name right now. I went nuts when axwell - feel the vibe came on. love that choon! The man knows how to move the crowd. THe vibe throughout the nite is what made it awesome. everyone was there for one reason, to go crazy to some amazing house choons!!! i ended up leaving around 4am wish i was there later. schools been fucking up my awakness levels, so i'll have to regain that during the christmas break. how long did he stay on til???

anyone that wasn't there missed some sweet house, ROger S knows how to do it!

thanx to BK (Mr. & Mrs. P & M.) for the wicked food you brought to the party.... Cool to have met you Nabih - Wish I had ran into you earlier in night!

Posted by Jayx1 on Nov-21-2004 21:31:

-Lil Mo Yin Yang - Reach

-I Need Your Love - N.R.G. (remix) WHOA!!

-Your fucking me makes me bilingual

those were the 3 tracks that i could ID of the night that had me going like crazy.

So many other new tunes as well... DAMN!

Posted by djbruuen on Nov-21-2004 22:10:

one song that was really cool that i didn't recognize was the one he dropped that says "here we go again" and the whole song was like a story. it was a pretty funny songs, becuase i was actually listening to the lyrics the whole way through haha.

Posted by Jayx1 on Nov-21-2004 22:29:

Then there was some tune that started with cheesy vocals but when it kicked in it filtered out like ive never heard a track do before and i went fucking crazy.

yeh, he had a few songs like that, where i was thinking...hmmm this is kinda cheesy, not really digging...and then after the break it got a really chunky bassline and changed direction, and i just started going nuts. roger sanchez plays his songs long...i think many songs lasted like 7mins...but becasue i was digging most of the stuff he was playing, i was happy i kept the songs extended.

That would be Bilingual by Jose Nunez.

Good to see that (for the most part) it was a fun night!

Funny moment going to the club, crossing the street towards the doors : car w/ 3 people dead stops in front of us, laughing, asks us if we're going into the club 'dressed like that??'. Said we weren't sure if they would let us in, but if they don't, we're going home. (turns out they were dressed down as well). Luckily, no problems.

Made it in there at 11:30. Ran into Special K, Jayx1, Michael, Sally, Igor and a couple other random friends. Wasn't really feeling the jazzy house the opening dj was playing, or the first 20 mins of Rogers set, but then it kicked in. Only ended up staying til 2:30, as Graham had it set in his mind to go to the Guv. Feeling a bit tired myself, left with him to drop him off, and headed home to get rest for the main event the next morning.

Never used the coat check or the bathroom, so I can't comment on Sally's complaints, tho sad to hear that happened. Lots of free booze handed out tho, which was cool.

Dallas I was nowhere NEAR drunk, but thanks for asking....
Just because they were giving out free booze doesn't mean I was drinking it.

Thumbs up

Well it kinda like a last minute thing to go to LUST.I went with my friend Scott & Mike & my friend Damian (from Kitchener).I was lucky enough that Scott, Mike & I know the promoter Steve Ireson (thanks SO much Steve) & we went straight in with no cover or search and this was around midnite.

It was a good sized crowd and really glad to run into Natalie & Graham and another good friend of mine Anthony...I was kinda dissapointed that this club STILL only served 4 or 5 brands of beer

This was the first time hearing Roger S. live and he was pretty good..I didn't like him spinning back & forth with circuity style house & like a deep non-vocal house...I like my house music without any vocals & to be HARD ...Otherwise he was ok and we stayed til 3ish

I agree that the washrooms we're bad & hopefully LUST will fix that problem.Thing is that I don't know when/if I will be back at LUST in the near future
