lol they are almost exactly equal. if you are going to spend 129$ just get the Pioneer HDJ1000's, also my friend got the HD-25's for 150$ off of froogle, so umm... shop around

Posted by D-res on Nov-22-2004 07:28:

both i and a friend have the sony's and to say the least, they kick total ass. they're some real solid headphones and i found them for 92 bucks brand new, never opened on ebay.

Posted by sleepydragon on Nov-22-2004 10:57:

ive got the hd25 there pretty good and i think they will last a long time

Unless Sony has fixed the hinge problem, the Sony's will break at the hinge, especially if you use the headphone bag that comes with it as it puts unneeded stress on the hinge.

With that said, if you know someone who works for Circuit City, you can pick up Sony 700's for around $70.

try the sony 7506s, i hear they are much better than the mdrv700.

as well as what others have posted, it'll be worth your while looking at the sennheiser hd280s, fantastic headphones.

i have the 7506s and they're awesome

my friend has the 700djs and i was over at his house a couple days ago and saw it was cracking at the hinges and he doesn't even dj, just uses it for listenin to music on his comp

Posted by Exodus17 on Nov-25-2004 02:54:

the sonys are good if you take good care of them, but there are alot of people out there who have them and they cracked and broke at the swivel, coincedentally, the 700s at the best buy in my town are also broken at the swivel

that being said, if you end up getting the sonys, take good care of them but dont expect them to last more than a year to a year and a half

im going to be getting the Stantons this weekend, so we'll see how they feel

right now i have the sony v600 which have lasted me almost a year(Xmas) and theyve been absolutely perfect accept for the fact that they arent as flexible as the 700

the 7506 is "the same" as the v600 only its built alittle different, the wires stick out whereas the v600 everything is built into the headband and all

the HDJ1000 are said to be really good as far as sound quality but they seem to have the same downfall as so many other v700s breaking at the swivel and all as well as many reports of signal loss in either the right or left side

sennheisers havent had many(if any) complaints that ive seen and are said to have great sound and comfort, my only problem with them is the way they look and how big they are, but knowing me i'll probably end up buying a pair sooner or later

ive heard(read) the Stanton 2000s are rock solid and have good sound

one thing ive noticed as far as headphones go -

you seem to sacrifice looks for quality and vice versa so whichever tickles your fancy

I have the DJPro 3000's and they are awsome! Very comfortable with great sound, durability, flexabilty and look! They are very loud! I haven't had the chance to compare them though...

Posted by Zild on Nov-25-2004 13:55:

The only DJ headphones I would personally pay for are Sennheisers HD25, HD280, Or Sony 7506. I think the Senns beat out the Sonys but the 7506s are still nice.

Posted by Tranceporter99 on Nov-26-2004 07:02:

im a HD 280pro fanboy, so yeah....get those, less than a 100usd now if you shop around

Posted by Greedy on Nov-27-2004 02:01:

for those of u with pioneers that are experiencing sound loss in either of the cans, its easily fixable and i made a tutorial on how to fix it on here some time ago. . .

the reason why signal is cuttin out is because the wires inside the can are bare thus shorting when the red and black make contact. Just open up ur cans, put some tape around the wires and youre done.

Agree with the Sony 7506s. They are also $100 on www.musiciansfriend.com

I think I will be picking up the V6's today. Just gotta get over the issue of tucking them between my shoulder and ear.. they don't twist and bend very well for that...

Posted by Exodus17 on Nov-29-2004 17:47:

the v600 is flexible enough in the headband if you like to tuck em between your shoulder/ear you can without a problem... just know that they dont have the swivel feature so it may feel a bit bulky

you can hold the other side down under your chin which helps... then again.. i read that single sided monitoring like that isnt good for the headphones but its all up to you

there really isnt much of a difference in how well you can hear a track if you are wearing it on your head with one side off or if you have it btwn shoulder and ear...

if youve ever seen the movie groove, DJ WishFM(or forrestgreen) has em and he does the tuck thing...

THE V600 AND 7506 ARE IDENTICAL!!!

So true... You either get great sound quality but very bad build quality (Sony and Pioneer) or good build and sound quality but really crappy/bulky looking (Sennheiser).

BTW, I have the Stanton 2000s and they are pretty good. I wouldn't say rock solid because I just got them for a couple of months but they are quite sturdy. I don't think they will have the swivel problem. Also, very flat response. Recently, I don't think they are quite as clear as before... but I think my ears are to blame.

My only gripe about the 2000s is that when I use the EQ in Winamp, they distort a little whenever I play a song with a lot of bass. I think it's due to the power handling capacity of the headphones, which is only 500mW. No major complaints though. I think they are getting harder to find because they are getting replaced by the 3000s. I was going to get the 3000s but I read a review somewhere that they break like the Sony's, which instantly turned me off.

uhhh. no there not. The V6 and 7506 are identical. The V600 is the big pile of poo that's common just about everywhere.

Posted by Exodus17 on Nov-30-2004 18:11:

i dunno how effective this is but ive heard that burning in a new pair of headphones helps the sound...

i havent had a chance to try it yet but as soon as i get my 3000s ill give it a shot

i dunno if its a problem with the headphones or not but i dont really like the sound quality of Winplayers

Posted by tu_face on Nov-30-2004 19:46:

certainly in the case of headphones, burning them in will help the sound quality. this is the same with any drivers though. you will get better sound quality after a week of use than you will the day you buy them.

this however doesn't mean that you need to leave them blasting all night. they will burn themselves in with normal use within a week or so.
