you really have to wonder why someone would go out of their way to hate on what is known as the best vibe party in the DC/MD/VA area.

Posted by InMotion on Nov-22-2004 19:10:

Ordinarily, I'm a big supporter of the EDM scene, but based on poor management and a lack of resolution to these problems this is one event that deserves to fall flat on its face.

Posted by Caliraver on Nov-22-2004 19:18:

Transit has been going strong every week for 6 months and Mass-Transit for 3 months.

Thanks for your opinion - just like assholes, everyone has one.

I can't wait for Joshua Ryan to hit the decks up close and personal.

PS - If you really feel that MT1 w/ Scott Henry, Suneel, and Joey Muniz wasn't worth your measly $7 - i'll refund your money - PM me your address and i'll mail it to you.

Really, M8? WOW!

Sounds like the person promoting this party has the IQ of an opposum.

first you make a comment about my and give productions crew's "lack of resolution to the problems" as the reason why you think it should fall flat on it's face, then I offer to address every issue and even offer to send you your money back, yet you still insist being a jerk. Who the heck are you? What have you done to support the local dj scene let alone headliners like Scott Henry, Feelgood (which Scott H came back for this one as he loves the MT parties), Bennison, Joshua Ryan, etc.? Give productions brings 14-20 new local DJ's through the venue each month, provides the means by which a bedroom dj can get their first gig (8-9 slot at Transit), and selects the top talent from Transit to open for the headliners at Mass-Transit - objectively. What kind of constructive thought / criticism can you offer? How would you do things differently? What is your objective / intent? Do you have a promotion crew / production crew that has a new venue, where you throw quality free events plus monthly main events, where you have a perfect relationship with the owners of the venue?

I harbor no bad energy / vibe for anyone regardless of their ignorance. Good luck to you and your future endeavors.

You are booking "has beens" and "not yets," and not booking "nows." How the hell do you ever expect to be as sucessful as, say a Buzz or a Glow; neither of which I have affiliations with? You will not draw a large crowd week after week, over an extended period of time with such ho hum talent.

There isn't enough bandwidth for me to completely explain. So I won't even start something like this.

To bring awareness to good people who come anywhere outside of a three mile radius to see this shit. Quite frankly, I don't see how you're not embarrased by the whole idea.

how is there not enough bandwidth?

and i believe their objective is to book "not yets" and not to book nows as they are already playing at other venues. transit is there to support the local and upcoming DJs.

even though i have yet to been to their events ive met some of the guys and what their doing is great for the local scene.

really man you should just give up your stupid ramblings and troll on somewhere else.

Posted by Caliraver on Nov-22-2004 21:05:

we are definitely not trying to become or be anything like buzz or glow, and we are focused on the undiscovered, discovered but coming up, and the major names that are not being booked at nation, five, or glow. The goal is to support the local scene.

thanks Cryo

Posted by InMotion on Nov-22-2004 21:16:

Stupid ramblings, eh?

Sounds to me like you have a 200 word vocabulary. So I'll tell you what... since Caliraver seems to be the "happy-go-lucky" type, maybe he can be gracious enough to donate a portion of the 7 bucks he was going to give back to me to buy you a thesaurus.

Posted by trunks1022 on Nov-22-2004 21:28:

there's no need to be a pompous ass. we get that you don't like the idea surrounding mass transit. perhaps the venue is not the best place (i don't know, i've never been), but there's also no need to personally insult people either... and that goes for u too cryo

if people are really about the music, that's all that matters...

whatever man go somewhere else, enough threadjacking

Oh my god, stop being such a crybaby. Come by on a wednesday night, we're all there (though not this coming wednesday), we'll give you your money back and buy you a drink.

As far as booking djs goes, what kind of budget do you fucking think we have? We've got a poolhall in the suburbs with a moderate sized dance floor!

We're not going to be able to book fucking Paul Van Dyk. Be realistic.

Posted by empath on Nov-22-2004 21:57:

And btw, we're _usually_ responsive to complaints, suggestions, whatever, when you're not being a douchebag about it.

Personally, I'd like to see more trance addict people come by on our free wednesday night parties.

We're just about the only venue in DC that will book local no-name trance DJs, so if you spin or you have a friend that spins, please come by and talk to us, we'll give you a shot.

We're actively looking to break new talent, unlike a lot of promoters that just book the same old djs over and over again.

Posted by InMotion on Nov-22-2004 22:20:

Thumbs up

I guess I should thank you for helping me bring my point full circle. You're operating out of some shit pool hall that is run by people who didn't even know who the hell Scott Henry was when I got to the door. This party doesn't stand a chance of any long-term support.

Well then, enjoy the exact same level of support for however long it lasts.

oh btw...enjoyed your opening set @ Tiesto back in June.

Posted by empath on Nov-22-2004 22:24:

Or party is doing just fine, thanks.

We'll pull in a few hundred people once a month. It's more than enough to cover the costs we're incurring. We know the venue isn't the best, but it's a <$10 party, the sound system and dance floor are pretty good, and the vibe is always good, as far as i'm concerned.

Believe me, if we could get a better venue, we could. We started this out just so we'd have a place to play once a week on wednesday's. We had an opportunity to try something bigger, and we're taking it.

We're not trying to be Glow, we're just trying to throw a fun party.

Posted by Caliraver on Nov-22-2004 22:49:

so here are pics of the venue during feelgood and henry so each person can make up their own mind - also check out giveproductions.com for live sets, video from the parties, pics, etc.

good times!

here is feelgood rockin it

and here is a pic of the other side of the venue with the pool tables:

look up close - there is hand painted artwork throughout the venue on all the columns, walls, ceiling at the bar, etc.

See ya at Mass-transit4!

Joshua Ryan @ Mass Transit? Yes!!!!!

Joshua Ryan tore it up @ Avalanche in December 2002! It's about time he returned to the DC area!

Wait let me get this straight...you actually think there is a correlation between the door staff's knowledge of a DJ and the success of a party?
What kind of a fucktard are you?
Do you have any idea how many times I went to Glow for say, Paul van Dyk, and had the door people go "Paul who? what the fuck is that?"
Door people usually aren't hired for their music knowledge.

ps: come see me spin at Transit next week, so I can own your stupid ass with some banging techno.
