Death of TAW

Copied from TAW forum

http://www.tranceairwaves.com/forum...p=7756#post7756

Dear Listeners / Members / DJs

It is with great regret that the TranceAirWaves staff announce the closure of the station.

TranceAirWaves has in the last 2 years, in our and many other opinions, been one of the best Trance radio stations on the web. This does, however, come at a price; a price we can no longer afford as license fees and bandwidth costs continue to rise, it is now no longer enonomically viable to keep the station online.

We would like to thank ALL of our listeners and DJs, DJ Agencies, and sponsors for making TranceAirWaves a huge success, a success we did not anticipate when we came up with the idea almost 2 years ago. Be assured that the staff have tried all they can to find a way to keep the station online, yet have not found a reliable solution.

For a few weeks the forums and chat room will remain online but our streaming servers, and encoders will switch off at 12:00am on 23rd November 2004.

Once again, we thank you for making the station a huge success, with a little luck we will find a way to sustain such costs and return even better in the future, so for now, thank you, and farewell.

TanceAirWaves Administrators

To be honest, I didn't really listen to TAW all that much, but it's still a shame to see it closing down.

Sucks! TAW really had some quality sets every week

Posted by mike_stefan69 on Nov-22-2004 21:45:

i must say im really surprised
not that i listened to TAW loads, so i guess it wont make a difference for me
its just that its so sudden, nigel was trying to get some people from the nu-generation board some shows, and that was only a couple of weeks back...just wondering why the sudden closure

Posted by dj_lane on Nov-22-2004 21:46:

i enjoyed TAW, when i have listened, honestly sorry to see them go

Posted by vswede on Nov-22-2004 21:47:

thats too bad.. i myself didnt listen that often either but its a shame to see an end to something so many people have worked hard on creating.

I never listened to it either.

Still a shame to see a community/group be forced to stop helping others with common interest.

Heard of it... never tuned into it..

It's a shame to see any station go under even if it's succesful.

Posted by Ste on Nov-22-2004 22:00:

its a bit of a shitter, especially as so many djs used it as an internet promotional tool.

Posted by trancebrat on Nov-22-2004 22:09:

Well this sucks. I will miss being able to listen to people like Terry, Simon, Rob, Suzy, etc spin and I will most definitely miss being in the chat room with all of the regulars from TAW chat. Those were some good times. I'm sad to see it end.

We did not want to shut down TAW, but it had to happen.
For the reasons Eviltree has quoted from the TAW site.

All i can say now is Thanks to All those that have ever listened to TranceAirWaves and Thanks to every DJ thats played for TranceAirWaves.

it was fun while it lasted and i've had the pleasure of talking to many of the DJ's that we have featured as well as talking to a great deal of you lot that have wandered into the TAW channel on IRC.

To me losing TAW is like losing a friend and i will miss it a great deal.

Again a Huge thanks to all those that have supported TAW either by listening or by playing for us.

I think it goes without saying that I will miss listening to you spin. I could be having the worst day and all I had to do was tune into TAW while one of you guys were spinning and go into the chat room with you guys and it would brighten my day. We had some interesting conversations in chat. You guys were like a little family...I loved it. I'll miss that.

That's too bad, I listened to it maybe few times but still..

Posted by Spacey Orange on Nov-23-2004 00:31:

That's awful.

I just started listening about 2 weeks ago and was listening about an hour ago when the dj said that it was his last set, but he didn't mention why.

Does anyone PLEASE recommend another 24 station with a low bandwith? ETS is too high for me. Thanks.

Posted by Boomer187 on Nov-23-2004 00:36:

wow, sucky news, I have TAW bookmarked because I listened to it so much. I liked it a lot.

I guess this leaves a lil gap in online stations that needs to be filled....or maybe everyone will switch to ets?

That sucks. TAW had some really talented DJs and great management.

Its always sad to see good stations leave and shit stations stick around.

Posted by trancebrat on Nov-23-2004 00:43:

TAW is officially off the air. Great (last) sets Nige and Neo.

thats fucking bent, I'm supposed to be playing on the 24th
at least I can't get banned for slating TAW DJ's anymore

seriously that is a ******, it provided people with a half decent service, and it's something which has taken me completely by surprise

Posted by Creamfields23 on Nov-23-2004 00:54:

Wow never expected this coming. I thought you guys were doing pretty well with shows like Trancend.

Really sad
