Tiesto fans unite! Fave song, album?

It is time for all of "We the Tiesto faithful" to come out and speak about the man. I for one hope this thread doesnt get hijacked, but it probably will, so lets enjoy the silence for the moment... ANyway, whats your fave mixes by him and songs and such, and why? This is basically a tiesto discussion thread, talk about whatever you want provided it isnt mindless tiesto bashing. Ok so here we go:

Fave song- Love comes again. I know i know im going to get flamed for various reasons, but my reason is simple-I first heard the song the first time i heard the Just Be cd, the night after i lost basically the love of my life. Breakups are really hard for me, but that song, the rhythm, the vocals...There is something about it i really like, and i found it really soothing in a way. Probably not his greatest song to many people, but i really like it.

Best remix- Easily Adagio for strings. That damn song kicks ASS. Not much else to say really.

Best cd- ISOS 2. You cant beat the feeling that mix gives you, so warm and uplifting. Definitely what trance is about.

Best liveset- Magic 6. I'll be damned if another mix has ever captured so much. Starts off with fratty boy (i think thats the name), and that song is beautiful and powerful, the rest of the mix builds on that song and then carries it to another level. I LOVE that mix to death, i honestly cannot hear it enough.

Thing i hate most about tiesto- His rep as being egotistical. Im not sure where this comes from, but i hope it isnt true, and i havent seen it firsthand. Ive seen him 6 times now, and every single time i was LOVING his set, he is in so many ways the best Dj i have ever seen or heard. Im done

Tiesto production != Tiesto mixing

I'm wary of anyone who unilaterally praises or hates both without distinction.

i love how 90% of these threads are started by n00bs

Track: Flight 643
Remix: Southern Sun
CD: In My Memory (it's not really fair to put artist albums and compilations into one category here)
Liveset: Homelands 2002
Dislike: His intentional effort, after 2002, to foster a personality cult of image at the expense of electronic dance music and the culture it represents.

Isnt Just Be his album entirely? You like in my memory more than Just Be? Damn, fair enough. You might be right not to include compilations, but i mean he hasnt been churning out cds he soley produced left and right. I figured compilations gives more options. I know what you mean by image and all that, it pisses me off because in my opinion big money kills music, as it does with most sports hobbies etc. Once there is shitloads of money in something, you get people doing it soley for money. People always accuse tiesto of doing this but come on was he getting rich in the late 90's? Was anyone in trance? The fact that trance made it big isnt his fault, nor is the obscene going rate for a pro dj. Is he supposed to mix for free or something? That i dont get...

FAVORITE ORIGINAL - Sweet Misery
The lyrics of this track were originally written for Evanesence but they declined and Tiesto picked up the lyrics instead, thank god! The lyrics are beautiful, catchy and the vibe in this track is just magical and unique. This is by far my favorite track off of "Just Be"
and obviously my favorite out of all his orignial works. I can't really describe the feeling I get from this track or what provokes it but this track is just so special for me.

FAVORITE REMIX - Adagio For Strings |&| Silence |&| Southern Sun
It's definetly a tie between the three for me. On one hand we have the hard edged and powerful remix of "Adagio For Strings" and on the other we have the emotional heart renching remix to Delerium's "Silence" ... I have heard both of these tracks live (on the same night I might add) and they both took my breath away equally as well as they do while listening to them at home. I have not have the blessing of hearing his remix of "Southern Sun" live but I have listened to it many times and home and still can't get enough. All three songs are great remixes that really back up Tiesto as a great remixer.

FAVORITE MIX COMPILATION - In Search Of Sunrise 1
The first time I heard this mix I fell in love. This mix is actually my favorite mix of all time and I really don't think I'll hear any mix that tops this one in terms of track selection, track progression and perfect vibe. The CD has good mixing and it really encompasses the emotion of trance for me. This CD shows off everything I love about trance and more.

FAVORITE LIVESET - Magik 6: Live In Amsterdam
There is no doubt why Tiesto made this set into a CD, it's amazing! This liveset is without a doubt another hallmark in trance music. Great mixing, track selection, track progression and superb trance vibe. Enough said.

LEAST FAVORITE THING ABOUT TIESTO - Declining Mixing Skills
I cannot comment on Tiesto being "arrogant" b/c I have never met him and I don't judge people until I meet them or at least have some sort of better perspective on the matter rather than someone elses views. My problem with Tiesto is his declining LIVE mixing skills. I can hear the passion and magik declining in his live sets compared to old ones. He is just losing focus and I think he just doesn't care as much because of various reasons. It is a shame, because I really enjoyed his livesets of the past.

Track: Suburban Train (or Traffic)
Remix: Southern Sun
CD: In My Memory (What else?)
Dislike: His way of letting success go to his head.

Track: Flight 643

Remix: Southern Sun

CD: In My Memory

Dislike: Tiestos inconstancies in his live performances and mixes. I also dislike his pursuit for richest at the expense of his musical integrity as seen in 2004.

Track: Suburban Train

His Remix: Hell, I can't choose just one.

Conjure One feat. Sinead O'Connor - Tears From The Moon
Dave Matthews Band - The Space Between
Delerium feat. Sarah McLachlan - Silence
Jan Johnston - Flesh
Sarah McLachlan - Sweet Surrender

Remixed by Someone Else: In My Memory (Gabriel & Dresden's Elephant Memory Vocal Mix)

CD: In My Memory

Dislike: Almost everything he's done since 2002

Hell yes!!

Just Be doesn't stack up against In My Memory, its mostly drivel.

Best Track: Suburban Train (non vocal one)
Best remix: Silence, Southern Sun, Adagio. All awesomeness.
Mix CD: Magik 6
Liveset: hmmmmmmm, Energy 2000, maybe Amnesia (10/8/02), Club Space (8/02), not really sure

Dislike: His quality of livesets is diminishing, they just don't show the construction nor mixing quality of years gone by......

Posted by biznology on Nov-23-2004 08:49:

Track: Tiesto pres. Allure - We Ran at Dawn (magikal remake)

Remix: Delerium f. Leigh Nash- Innocente (tiesto rmx)

CD: ISOS2, one of the best, most coherent trance cds of late

Dislike: mimicking Oakies style, when he already had a solid base. he could have gone anywhere hed of liked in any genre that stayed true to the Magik et al series, but after Isos3 i stopped paying much attention. now he is *reinventing* himself with cheese techno.

AND his EM showed such depth and skill that i can either NOT believe he has changed that much, or it wasnt him|

allure - no more tears
kamaya painters - cryptomnesia

remix:
jan johnston - flesh

set:
innercity, amsterdam holland 1999-02-20

dislike:
the fame thingy which got to his head

Posted by Gholy Host on Nov-23-2004 17:20:

Not a fan, but hell, I'm bored.

Track: Walking on Clouds

Remix: Radiohead - Street Spirit

CD: Nyana

Dislike: The now Oakenfold like status he holds; newcomers to the trance scene think they can fit in simply by uttering his name, like some golden badge of wisdom. The people that follow him around the globe thinking he's a godsend, whereas they've never heard another DJ.

Posted by |cEbLu3 on Nov-23-2004 17:33:

Original Track: Dallas 4 p.m.

Remix: i like a couple, but these two stand out:

Delerium feat. Sarah McLachlan - Silence
Jan Johnston - Flesh

Remixed by other artist: In My Memory (Gabriel & Dresden's Mix)

CD: In My Memory, magik 6 or 7

What I dislike: His current big headed attitude, and decline of mixing skills. I think the 2 are tied together

Posted by Cloud on Nov-23-2004 17:51:

Track: Sparkles , Suburban Train
Remix: Delerium - Silence , Jan Johnston - Flesh
CD: ISOS 2
Set: Magik 6, Trance Energy 2000 (second track WOW)!
Dislike: His new work

Posted by Sjagga on Nov-23-2004 18:08:

Another one of these??

Anyway, Hmm

Best track: Suburban train / Forever today
Best Album: Magik 4
Best Liveset: @energy2000 / @innercity2000
Best remix: Hmm, Probably southern sun, not sure

Posted by DJ_Hailstone on Nov-23-2004 18:13:

Best song: Suburban Train & Forever Today too.
Best album: In Search Of Sunrise 3
Best liveset: definitely Dutch Dimension 2002

Oakenfold - Southern Sun
Delerium - Innocente

The guy becomes super successful and all you whiners begin to complain about his mixing. I think his mixing has actaully stayed the same since ive been his fan for the past 6 years. Listen to Tiesto in concert..hardly one mistake there.

Im sure you guys would start bad mouthing Zabeila if he garnered the same attention
