Lightbulb Ambia - Power Struggle

Hi! I'm finally back with something new (first thing since April actually). It seems like I'm taking longer and longer each time. Anyway, my 4th tune is somewhere between melodic and hard. Ah, I dunno, just make up your own mind...

Ambia - Power Struggle (Original Mix)
(7:04, 12.9MB, 256Kbps)

Any comments or feedback would be much appreciated...

Cheers.

it is ok, like the melody

This rocks!!

so much drive right from the beginning, and the turn arounds are very funky.

Loving that squeaky distorted thing that runs up & down.

The main melody is pretty cool.. kinda gives the song a sense of urgency.

I think the only thing that I'm not a big fan of is the hi hat panned to the right, its not as skippity as the hi hat panned to the left - it sounds a lil heavy if that makes sense. But it could just be my headphones!

Fantastic toon! don't take so much time between songs joe! or else...

Yeah, really nice and powerful tune you've created mate!
Loving that driving bassline, and the melody is cool - nice harmonies! Also great build-up before the melody kicks in.
If I should complain about something, it'd be that the piano sound could be a bit less "plastic". But that's just a minor detail.
Enjoying this one!

listening m8....

i'm not listening throu any super good speakers right now.. but will give a comment anyway

first thing is that i think the kick could have more power....
kinda get's a bit drowned after a little while...

i really like the dirty synth

even thou the new mel that's coming in now is totally different i kinda like them 2 togheter

don't really like that the pad is so high.. think it should be more in the background and that you should bring out the melodie more.

ohh.. and i like the percussions... really nice

good work joe

Posted by eulerfx on Nov-25-2004 03:54:

dang, im a sucker for flager/chours. nice use of that. nice bassline. i think the track needs more 'stuff' as it seems like a buildup towards something.

Posted by Thunder5 on Nov-25-2004 04:10:

lets see mate.

I think the kick could be a bit more punchier.

Melodies are proper nice.

That dirty synth is my fav..

Cool tune. I remember you sent me a sample of it awhile a go
You really improved mate, the sound quality is really good, everything sound clear and crisp.

One thing I feel you should work harder on is your percussion, the kick is too weak compared to the rest of the mix, not enough power and drive in it.
The other hats, I dont think they sound full enoughby adding some additional effects to them you can make them fuller and more driving.

Other then that, cool bassline, really liked the melodies in that one.

Well done mate! Keep on making music!

the sample i had was awesome unfortunately i can't play it loud now cos im at uni..melodies are great! and that dirty synth is really cool. will give some more feedback when im back home

ooh bass reminds me a bit on david forbes-answers.

i don't really like the kick Joe, it tiks to much.

clap can be stronger imo.

that bandpass? acid is really cool.

intro/buildup takes really long.

piano is nice, and that synth is indeed very cool. Melody is nice also with that string sequence.

imo arrangment and mixing could be better Joe, that would be the only thing though.

Posted by Bren-F on Nov-25-2004 22:43:

I'm liking this Joe !

The acid sounds are superb & the main melody piano & synths are quality.

Still a few bits here & there that could be improved that others have mentioned but you are getting better tune by tune !

Thumbs up

Definitely my kind of music.

Ok , nice tune overall, some cool melodies, but that kick needs to really improve, to light and sharp. On top of that the track needs more lows imo, but if you get good and better pounding kick that can do the trick i think. MSN me when/if you update your tune.

Posted by DRM on Nov-26-2004 12:32:

you know i like this joe All your tunes always have something interesting about them thats not the normal thing to do while at the same time having a familiarity that you can relate to.

Production wise, kick is a bit lost as other have said. Bassline is very nice (Y) the screechy thing is a very nice touch and helps drive the track along. Melodies are all sweet if all a little short. Percussion is ok but the hats that are panned right are too overpowering and im not really keen on the clap.

Overall a decent tune tho mate

Sorry mate, one day too late..

Anyways, this is good! I like the melody, although I would have made some slight changes. The dirty synth that fades in about 01:37 is a bit too loud imo. Other than that good work on this one! Nothing ground breaking, but it does the job.

Read This!

Hey Joe!!

-Bass goes really well with bassdrum, top job!
-Has a lot of energy in it, top notch!!
-Loved the acid, very different but works a treat.
-Love the first break, bass changes were spot on, came in at the exact right point!
-Powerfull and driving melody top it off

Only complaint is the lack of a "BOOM" when it all come back in, aside form that top effort guvnor :P

Keep it up!

Shep

Glad to see you're upping new stuff

Gotta say I like this, one of your best so far. I like the bassline and drive, the overall track is nicely structured as well. Fine main melody - not anything that will stick to the head, but it works for me.

Take care,
Wim

Hey mate!

Rather nice track u have mate, not really fond on the kick tho! seems a bit empty if u kno wat i mean! Has a really nice Bass tho, kinda plods along nicely with the rest of the track! i agree with the DRM with that Screech sound, at about 2.30s in it seems its out of sync a bit, just doesnt sound right to me! its only for a few seconds, so not to worry! Break is really nice, not to fond on the melodies tho! But all in all, really nice track mate! Thanx for sharing!

Chris

Cheers for the review Chris, and thanks to everyone else for their comments.

(and hurry up dammit Ian! )

Those four sixteenth note synth stabs in the first few seconds were a real non-sequiter. I didn't like them all that much.

I like your percs in the intro.

Yay! My parents bought me Sprite and I didn't have to ask for it!

Cool acid stuff at around 3:00.

I think your bass needs to be EQ'd off somewhere south of about 90 Hz. It's really rumbly as it is.

Overall, not bad. A nice tune with good energy.

Posted by Ian on Dec-11-2004 22:01:

Percussively sound, lots of hi-end frequencies drive it along well and fit in with the bassline ok

Not too keen as others have said on the glassy sounding notes repeated at the beginning and during the buildup however the next set of sounds used work really well, so maybe record me a version without those notes in

Main melody doesn't do as much for me as nightvision or the first tune (i had the name in my head a second ago) but technically the general production quality of finish is higher here.

Piano etc is really nice tho mate, would love to hear it played loud (maybe cd-r it for next bbq) After this tho it just lacks that 'thing' to take the track onto an even higher plain.

not my fave tune of yours but its presented very well, prob 5/10 for the tunes notes but 8/10 on the finish if u get me
