Alexander movie

ok, if you haven't seen it and dont want any spoiler, do not continue reading.

for those who continue. I have always liked Stone's work, but this movie was such a dissapointment. Granted, the locations and the costums were awesome, but the dialogues were sooo cliche, and simply stupid. In special the part were Alexander and H-something (Leto's character) declare their love, it was funny simply because it was so unoriginal, and to put it bluntly stupid.
another part that was bad too was when H is dying, and Alexander is dreaming of conquering Europe. I see the point that Stone is trying to make, Alexander so absorved into it, but at the same time it looked so ridicule, that I and most of the theather started to laugh. The moment was calling for a sense of desolation, of great loss, and the opposite was achieved.
finally, the music. what was he thinking?!? I mean, the battles were well done, but the music completly destroys it. Alexander charging into the heat of battle, and Stone has an orchestra playing something that sounds like a victory march, it doesnt create any suspense, it ruins it. If there was something that was completly off, it was the music in my opinion.

overall I just wanted to complain, because I had high hopes for this movie, but it probably one of the worst I have seen this year.
any response to this?

Oliver stone made a big mistake getting Vangelis for the score on Alexander , he should have gotten Hans Zimmer who has expirience in writing good action movie score (the rock) as well as scoring of "epic" movies (Gladiator).
Hell just about any composer is better than Vangelis these days, his only good work was chariots of fire (used too often) and the blade runner score, apart from that ,there is nothing i could call good movie music.
And no could'nt comment about the movie since i have'nt seen it ,just heard the score the other day though

I'm not really surprised that it got the the reviews it did. I don't know about anyone else, but I'm getting really tired of the same old "epic" battle movies.

It's the same formulaic tripe with CGI rendered battle sequences. Everything can be done on computers now.

YOu want to see a real battle epic with real people? Forget Lord of the Rings and Troy. GO rent RAN or Kagemusha, Kurosawa spared no expense in either of those movies and you have to wonder how he choreographed every single one of those actors to fight in those battle scenes.

meh
/end rant

I just wasn't really looking forward to seeing Alexander, I suppose.

Yes, I was quite dissapointed to. With all of the majour actors in the movie, the score ruined alot of the battle scenes, and most of the acting just seemed to generic and plastic too me.

Oh well, yeah most of the time everyone in the audience was laughing...it was pretty funny.

I don't like watching movies where I know what's going to happen in them (in this case, Alexander as a young boy meets Aristotle, X amount of years later the smart Alexander goes about conquering the world, and we'll throw in a love story for kicks).

That's my guess anyways. Oh yeah, also the part about how he dies and his empire gets divided up.
