OFFICIAL Paul van Dyk & Edgar V @ Space 11/24 REVIEW + PICS!!!
Insane night. Just NUTS. A great TA turnout, and lots of fun, despite being slightly overcrowded. Pics posted now.
My full review later.

PVD WHO????? Unlike Ferry Corsten who has consistently delievered incredible sets as well as Tiesto, Paul Van Dyk @ Space has been consistently subpar. Tonite was all about Edgar V. His opening house set was awesome and his closing set in which stayed till 7:45 am where he was still playing to a half full main room was the BEST SET I HAVE HEARD THIS YEAR!!! (even surpassing Tiesto at WMC on Magik Muzik nite...)
The set was truly epic that only those that were there can understand what I am talking about.
I arrived around 11:30 really worried about the parking situation but to my surprise Space handled the 18+ party great. When I arrived, Cedric was playing in the lounge and inside PVD was playing for the younger crowd. ARound 12 he finished his set and the Space staff moved the 18+ crowd out the back door so to avoid congestion in the lounge area. (very well done... bravo!!!)
Massive shoutouts go out to all the TA's and Cpers in attendance. The Cpers included: Koky and Leo, Maribel and Doug, Relik, Renzo and Grooveeric (Koky, renzo and eric also are TA's). It was great to finally see Issel(sotuchick) again ( I dug your hair even though you said you dont like it). Great to see Nadia and her friend from Orlando and later on for Edgar's afterhours set Flip . (u got there for the best part of the nite)
The Ta's included: HappyKandy (melissa) I was happily surprised to see you. Colleen (had a blast dancing with you), Melly Mel (always lookin hot)...
Ryan and Rachel, RZO, Arturo and Harold, Damon (I am a TA just look at how freakin nuts i was during edgar's set LOL)....Raul, Vero, Miriam, Amber, Ben, Felipe, Smokey, Dr.Dave and MJM420 (also on CP) If I am missing anyone forgive me LOL.
I was surprised to not see Trancebrat in attendance
we missed you.
Edgar's opener
This house opener was even better then when he opened for Ferry. THe set started off with very uplifting house (lots of female vocals). Then it slowly progressed to darker and harder house.
My favorite track of his opener was the one that goes "I WANNA SPEND TIMEEEEEEEE WITH YOU!!!"
Around 2:15-2:30 Paul Van DYK took the decks
PVD Set
First off, the place was disgusting packed it was extremely annyong. it was WMC packed. No room at all unlike at Ferry. Right off the start Pvd started with that hard trance that just went nowhere. There was only one track in the first 90 min that had me dancing ( a vocal)
The last 45 min of his set was better. For about 25 min or so he played back to back to back old skool tracks off his Global Cd. That had me dancing up front in front of the podiums for sure. Nothing tops old school Paul Van Dyk.
His set though lasted a paltry 3 hrs..... unlike Tiesto who played 3 hrs last time (because of a hurricane closing in on us), I could note no reason why Paul could not play a bit more. Politics I guess.(and not Politics of Dancing btw)
During the set I went to the lounge to just lean on the wall "bored." during this time got to thank seansuz for being cool as hell and hooking me up with a drink ticket
(that vodka tonic was strongggggggggggggggg )
Edgar V closing set....
EPIC, SUPERB..... I AM AT A LOSS FOR WORDS. Edgar V is God!!! Tonite Edgar V delievered a closing set that I will never forget. He played vocals, trance, hard trance... he played it all. I could not stop dancing, I actually thought I had 3 heartattacks during the set. OMFG I DIE, OMFG I DIE, OMFG I DIEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!
The hardcore Edgar fans were still there: Damon, eric, renzo, koky and leo... For those that missed this...... u missed the set of the year. AT some points I seriously thought i was gonna pass out from dancing so hard on the platform and on the floor, jumping, screaming.... beggging for more....
Edgar V is the real deal people. At 7 am the place was still goin off the main room was still going nuts. I have been in the main room many times at 7 am at space recently and I have not seen it that full at that time for quite a while.
Edgar massive props to you and your masterpiece of a set tonite..
Next time PVD is in town I said to myself at first: "I wont be attending" But then I thought.. wait a sec Edgar will probably open and close again and if he does. Im definitly there
In closing I would like to just say one more thing: Edgar mutha@#$#$# VVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVV
PS (Edgar owned PVD )
(ok everyone this is my one crazy review for the year. back to my normal stuff next time lol)
I knew I was going to come home and my mom is gonna be cooking the turkey.. HAHA..
Well.. I left @ 8 am and I guess I had a good time? Big mission with the ppl i went with that made the night blah. But when they left I had a blast and I saw u TA's in the front for Edgars closing.. and yeah.. it was AMAZING! Stayed for some terrace and now i'm home.
The end.

Edgar's set was easily better than anything I ever heard at Space but PVD still PWNED the place, and that's the bottom muthafuckin' line. As I told Edgar, I don't like that house shit he plays there, but his closing was def. different and better and I loved it. I woulda stayed longer but my ears are STILL ringing and I was tired as hell, and my stomach is a bit messed up from having 2 beers on a nearly empty stomach. Edgar's opening set was Shoutouts....too many, will have to post later. My hearing needs to come back! |

I can only speak for the all-ages show, but I just wasn't feeling it last night.
Maybe it was the poser crowd, maybe it was how packed the event was, leaving little space for dancing.
The hours before Paul weren't much to my liking, although I did dance most of the time because it's what I came to do. There were a few nice dark tribal tracks, a remix of Soul To Bare (been meaning to hear it live for a while now), and a really nice production with a cool guitar-mandolinish melody in the break (ID?). But other than that it was rather dull American progressive for me. I'm a trancer at heart. I also found the Space soundsystem too bass-heavy, and not in a club-friendly way; the highs and mids seemed drowned and toned down.
Paul's set wasn't bad, but it was... uninspiring. I mean no disrespect to the man, but I expect better from him. 4th of July was FAR better.
I know he's trying to promote the Vandit release of Marcos, but he caned the crap out of Marc van Linden the whole night. I don't know, it just rubbed me the wrong way when he left out so much other material.
I really like when Paul goes techy, and he put in a couple tracks that I'd really wanted to hear live (Kyau vs Albert - Made of Sun (KvA Hard Dub) and Reeloop - Kamistad (Johan Gielen Remix)!!!). But I felt it went on too long, and didn't really go anywhere in terms of flow. El Toro, bleh. Minor quibble.
He closed out with a couple tracks that sounded well produced, but seemed really off-key to me. The energy of the crowd dropped because it wasn't really connecting.
And the encore track was ::drumroll:: Nothing But You.
No Summer Dream, no Love Simulator, no The Spell, no Wir Sind Wir, no Childen of the Sun, etc. Yet he put in Time of Our Lives, Connected, Nothing But You, and Alive. Oh well.
I would like to see the final tracklist, though, because a couple tracks really struck me, particularly one techy one about fourth or fifth from last that was really amazing.
MURDER WAS THE BASSSSSS
omg that was one hell of a SICKKKKKKKKKKKK moment
overall a decent night...paul was playing good in the begginning imo but as 400 rolled in i thought it got a bit monotonous.. anyway glad to hang with the ta's again as now there will be not many shows till conference...that is ok cause wmc05 is gonna rule considering the Ta takeover of the sheraton...
what's up people??
i have to say it was defiantely an interesting night. i had a good time meeting alot more TAs. Ans edgar's set was the shit. especially when he dropped "Are you gonna go my way" that was awsome.but unfortunately for me the night ended entirely to early.
i was dancing on the other side of the stage. because there was no room around you guys. and i was up there for most of edgar's set, rocking out. well towards the end this fat guy that was rolling out of his mind, knocked me off stage and i fell on like 3 people.i landed funnt on my right foot and twisted it really bad. luckily the people under were kinda cool bout it, but my ankle was killing me. i tried to sit and wait te pain to go away, and it didnt. i stayed for some of van dyke, but i need to dance to have a good time and that wasnt happening. so i went upstairs, which was a total mission with my ankle the way it was. i listened to him till bout 3:30, then i just couldnt take it and went home.when i got home i took a couple of tylenol PM and went to bed till aorund now, and my ankle is now swollen and bruised. my feeling is now i have a remeinder of PVD.
needless to say i am a little pissed the night ended the way it did, but alteast i got to meet more of you guys.ambs, mattavi, rounder, bling, and of course melly sux i couldnt party with all of you more, but hey there is always next time.
PS edgar's set was the shit. better then what i heard from PVD, but i wasnt there that long.

| Originally posted by Cobalt I suspected that, but they weren't just one or two phrase key changes, the whole melody was off key. It was really awkward and you could tell. |
