Djing kids
Every now and again I come across something about 11 kid dj and a 13 year old kid dj etc etc.
I would think by the time these kids are 20 they will be totally deaf.
How can anyone allow prepubencent kids in a club enviroment with 120 dB sound levels, I don't know how development of young kids hearing and physiology are before they hit puberty, but cannot such sound levels cause things like heart problems or brain problems in kids that are still developing.
You mean they actually get gigs in clubs at that age?
Thats pretty amazing, not to mention illegal (i think? maybe? wait maybe not)
I doubt clubs would be allowed to hire ppl that young for their gigs...i think these young kids are just bedroom dj's... so by the age of 20, if they continue the hobbie, they should be pretty amazing...
I donno, I only brought it up cause I was browsing gemini's website and saw they have a 11 year old kid playing at events.
Maybe it's geminis way of saying they only make toys?
Im 15 and im a "bedroom Dj" i dont pla at clubs though
I think thats its good that some people get the chance
I have been DJing for 14+ years (I'm 33)
I have played many clubs, party's..etc, and currently hold a weekly residence.
I have never used any ear protection.
I had my ears checked recently and have above average hearing.
Maybe they will be fine
...I am

fucking amazing or crazy
i would like to hear one as well...
bs, close this thread
Damn, I'm 15 and would love a club gig!
BTW, that DJ Yeah competed at the 2k4 Technics DMC championships or whatever.
Im 14 and Ive been really djing since I was 12. But if you count putting songs on at parties without mixing, then I've been djing for about 5 or 6 years.
I dj at Parties and School Dances. I dj mostly rap at those things because people here don't like trance. But when I'm alone I dj trance and nothing else.
I started out with some denon cd mixers and a JBL sound system. Now I'm mostly djing with turntables now, 2 Stanton STR8-80 turntables, 1 Stanton SA-8 Mixer, and 2 Numark Speakers. Turntables are much better. I plan on starting to dj with my turntables now because I've gotten much better. But the troubling part is that at parties, they usually like to hear new rap songs, and it's really hard for me to get rap, especially new, songs.
I'm 14 and I dj...at home

I was asking more along the lines of health of kids in extremely noisy enviroments before they reach puberty, I know most kids that start to dj will not dj at huge events, but what about the long term effects of those that do.

I'm sure there are some damn good young djs out there. I only wish my parents would have pushed me toward learning piano or another instrument when I was younger so my (then)virgin mind would have soaked it up like a sponge.
Oh well, I probably wouldn't have had the discipline I have now to make anything out of it.
There used to be a married couple that threw raves here a couple of years ago. They would always have their 12 yr. old son dj. He was actually a really good dnb dj. I remember when Dieselboy played a show here and the little boy was on stage when he was playing. After his set he gave the little boy one of his records. I am going to start looking through all of my party pics and see if I can find a pic of him playing. If I find one, I will post it on here.

I don't know about you guys, but I witnessed first hand DJ YEAH at the DMC U.S. Finals in Hollywood California. He was off the chain! If you missed it the 2004 DMC US Finals video will be out soon and you can see for your self the true form of the words... "world's youngest dj". Don't sleep on this kid. He's just scratched the surface!
thats so crazy...i can't scratch now lol. anyway what's this forum about? OH djing kids...i want a gig too, but im 20 so it might be easier...i just keep getting screwed by promoters. they book me then fall through at the last min...its happened 3 times already its disgusting
