Reason is pissing me off...Some tips please.
Quick setup rundown: Mac G4, Reason 2.5, Protools 6.X, Alesis M1 Active monitors, Radium 61 Midi controler.
It's really starting to get old. I make a song exclusively in Reason and get it sounding great, at least in my headphones and my monitors. Only problem is when I listen to it in my truck or any other home sterio systems it sounds like $hit. The biggest problem is the kick and bass frequiencies. I adjust the eq's, the compression, the Reverb, and repeat, repeat, repeat, but it still always sounds like crap when I play it somewhere else.
I only have this problem with Reason and I'm about ready to can this software. When I make tracks exclusively in Protools I'm very pleased with the way it turns out. Punchy Percussion, deep round bass, but with Reason it's just lifeless.
So, if there are any Reason users that have any secrets that would be great as I am at my wits end.
You could always adjust the levels/eq/compression in a different program. The lifeless sound was the same reason I left Reason a couple of years ago too.
Well, I did take the audio into Protools and tried to tweak it, but still no luck. I just don't understand why such extrems. The songs sound good on the monitors, the headphones, and even my crappy $50 computer speakes. Then I listen to it in my truck and it sounds like the kicks are non exstiant and the bass lacks ommph. It only happens with reason. WTF?
Weird, I got the exact opposite problem. My song will sound great on my PC, then when I bring it out to my car or a home stereo the booms are super loud and shake stuff.
I just keep Eq'ing till I like the sound,
I bounce the kick down in Reason separate, then import into Sonar and compress it in mono. I also use a bass effect on it . I do the same thing with my bass lines. I compress the bass in mono.
Don't can Reason! It's the piece cuz!! I start every track in Reason.
Good luck
I never thought about that. I'm gonna try exporting the Kick seperately from the song and tweak it in Protools. I might even try exporting the Bass seperate from the rest of the song. Mabey even try adding the Vintage Warmer to the bass and see how that turns out.
Just change your car's audiosystem!
hehe. main Equalizer power!!
Man , you own a Mac and you use Reason?! Thats a real shame
I say you should get your hands on Emagic Logic 7 , you won't believe the sound qualityIts really hard to learn and all, but once you get into it you realize everything else you been using up until now was total crap
Really its amazing, you should try the Demo version and see for yourself.
i could be totally wrong on this, but can't you ReWire Reason to Pro Tools? or are you already doing that (since you mentioned both programs) and just didn't specifically say you were?
Synergie- my car audio system is just fine. It's an all after market component system with crossovers, tweets, mids, and a bad ass deck. everything sounds excelent on it accept stuff from reason.
DJ-Kreing^^-Logics nice but expensive. besides protools with some plug in's works VERY well.
No Left Turn- I do rewire reason, but I can only get the master L and R because thats all my sound card will accept.
example: Export the drum audio and bass audio as seperate pieces. Open Protools, rewire reason, Mute drum and bass channels in reason, and import the seperate drum and bass audio pieces into their own protools channels and tweak. At least thats how I will try it.
Oke let me be more constructive.
May i ask you to post up a sample of your tunes? i wanne hear the bass and kick drums from you.
Seconds post a rns to if you want, a small one with a beat you usually make. If i can try to adjust it i'll help out
.
I would post samples, but I don't know where to host it. I could Email it to you if you like.

| Originally posted by TOR you mean sounding great in Reason itself or after conversion into .wav or .mp3? because i noticed a lot of the sound quality gets lost when exporting out of Reason. |
