Just dig... Go to a record shop weekly and dig through the bins, at first grab as much stuff, even stuff you've never heard of. Then listen through every record. The ones you don't like put in the return bin or whatever that shop has. And continue to grab some more. After you get the stuff you like, listen again and narrow it down some more. And in the end you'll find out what you like and you won't get lots of filler records of crap. That's the way i've been doing it for a while now.

The only promo-esq list that I am aware that regular joe's can get on is the old Hooj Choons (I believe it is city16.com now).

You could always try buying some records rather than trying to blag off someone's promo list.

No you can't get on any lists. And even if you could, unless you are a big name you will be sent no end of crap that you wont know what to do with.
I speak from first hand experience.

Cheers

i believe bonzai and platipus also have some kind of promo subsribtions open for everyone who are willing to pay mad amounts of money for them. and then there's a lot of cd pools, which send out promos on cds, but those aren't all too easy to get on. none of these are sasha style stuff though. but you don't certainly have to go to a record store and dig the stuff or browse online shops for tunes you want as you can get records sent to you if you pay for them without you being able to select them. but i wouldn't recommend on going on such a list unless you are absolutely sure they're not gonna release any crap tunes, because then you'll end up losing your money.
so what i'm trying to say is that it's better just dig the crates or browse the online shops rather than to sign up on some of these "promo" lists.
and on these "promo" lists you'll get the tunes much later than the big names and a bit earlier than they hit the shops (usually that is)!
