Sad OMG, what happened to AudioGalaxy??

I haven't downloaded anything off AG in a while. Today I decided to d/l some songs, and everything is there -- but NOTHING is available! All the lights are gray, no "green" options!

What's going on?
I also got a message that I'm using an old client program, maybe it's because of that?
Can anyone confirm this?

I had the same problem yesterday - just download the latest version and it will work (for a while )

It does seem like AG is starting to really block songs now. There are ALOT more grey boxes then there used to be.

yea i agree Audio galaxy is turning into crap.

Posted by mtguru on Oct-19-2001 02:33:

It was only a matter of time, but fear not there will always be another program to take its place.

Rasta

Hey.....even the ones that are showing up as grey/'unavailable' still download for me.....I think it's still working, butthe program just 'shows' that stuff has been blocked, without really blocking it.

........or maybe I'm just smoking crack!

Posted by ADK on Oct-19-2001 09:32:

the grey boxes with a cross in it mean that the song is blocked, or that that no one at the moment is sharing it, it said yesterday or so..... im a bit confused...

I tried even some of the more obscure stuff, and it STILL gave me a "cross" -- how does it know about that obscure little-known stuff? Or does it just block everything

AG, we hardly knew ye!

Is there any significant difference between version 0.606W and 0.608W?

Posted by frontebb on Oct-19-2001 20:35:

I, too, tried to download some new tracks that were "X-ed" out, but it also said I needed to download the new updated version...maybe that could be the problem? Or is this another that bites the dust? I HOPE NOT!

Posted by Kytracid on Oct-20-2001 11:08:

This is serious dudes...I've noticed quite a lot of top producers have had many of their stuff blocked. What the hell is happening ? Is AG getting sued or something. If AG goes down it'll be quite hard to find another source as good for Trance lovers since most prefere AG to any other source.

Well, guess what?!
I got the new satellite (.608W) and tried to install it. Apparently there's just one file that it needs to install, VS2.DLL or something.

The progress bar was stuck at 100% but it was NOT finished, it kept copying something and writing to the hard disk.

I waited for 10 minutes and then clicked 'Cancel' thinking that something was wrong. Then I decided to do it again, and wait some more. It was the same thing. I left the installer for the whole night. Imagine what I saw when I came back this morning? "Setup cannot decompress VS2.DLL"...

Did anybody have this experience too??

i had EXACTLY that experience. it then proceeded to mess up my computer for a couple of days, even though i uninstalled everything i could....
my computer was freezing and crashing and all sorts of stuff.

but i just installed the new version now, and it went fine...

Hmm... well I haven't really been having ANY problems at all with AG, it's been it's usual self! Sure here n there, there are X's on tunes, but there are always others available too!

The only difference I found is 0.608W has some spyware programs. AG finally gave in No biggie though, doesn't do much. But if you don't want it, just get ad-aware....
