-- ViaRail and WiFi!

Read This! ViaRail and WiFi!

Currently on the train going to Montreal.

ViaRail has WiFi internet access in their first class cars! Certainly makes the 4 hour trip more interesting. Nothing like free booze, 3 course meal and surfing TA + pr0n.

The speed isn't fantastic (15k / s - tops), but enough to do email, basic web and chat. I believe they've blocked everything but port 80 - as I can't seem to get messenger or webmessenger working.

None the less - technlogy is uber good and makes me uber happy.

BTW - I am in the web-based 2HP.ca Radio chat room if anybody is up to chat. URL is below.

Au revoir!

Anybody know how to get proxy setting shown w/ WinXP Home?

Apparently Via is using a proxy - and I need the specific settings for some apps.

Cheers.

You need to know what your settings are or VIA's?

how much is first class to montreal and back....i know the regular rate is $149....just curious as to how much exta you have to pay for your internet, food and "free" booze

Posted by rabbitjoker on Nov-30-2004 00:41:

I think ~$370 is the Via1 price (with no discounts), I don't pay - company does. You can get a 7-day pre-booking discount and other corporate rate discounts.

That's awesome !!

BTW, as far as I know there will be FREE high-speed wireless Interet all around San Francisco sometime in 2005.. Hopefully Toronto will be quick to follow !

Just got into Dorval. 15 more minutes left. Where is the cocktail lady?

Posted by Fir3start3r on Nov-30-2004 03:06:

Just got back from "The Keg" old-Montreal. Nothing better than uber-beer and NFL monday nights.

Sorry for the confusion.

Last time I did the trip I think it came to $310 for the return trip.

Until the end of December there's a special fare if you take a sleeper car there and VIA1 back (or vise versa).

Definately worth the extra money.

Expired,

Sleeper car to (MTL or TOR) + VIA1 back (MTL or TOR) is a great deal. I did that once and you catch the train at 11pm, get in at 8am the next day.

The bedroom has a private bathroom and shower. Sweetness.
