When you don't listen to EDM...

What do you listen to? Like what groups or bands?

Posted by Evil_Gnome on Nov-29-2004 23:36:

Coldplay, Dave Matthews, Coheed and Cambria

Posted by jonSun on Nov-29-2004 23:37:

It used to be Korn, Limp Bizcuit, Linken Park, Slipknot, Lords of Acid. But lately the past 2-3 years its only been EDM. Techno trance & house. Basically all kinds of EDM.

Posted by Spacey Orange on Nov-29-2004 23:37:

Ambient noise (birds, cars, etc.). Music: none if its not edm.

Posted by Camwin on Nov-29-2004 23:42:

Mostly New Zealand Music, we got a mass community for nz music coz we such a small country compared and our music is sooooo much less cheesey than the rest, more pure if you like. Even our hip hop is fuckin better coz we don't talk shit like heaps do.

80s new wave...all day long

Posted by daydreamer on Nov-29-2004 23:57:

lot of spanish music.
salsa, merengue, lating pop/rock,
i even throw down some chente, los bukis, temerarios.

now that i know a bit of japanese, listen to that as well.
L'arc en Ciel a lot of Yoko Kanno
anime ost's

and your rock.
A perfect circle, incubus, secret machines, smashing p's
etc.

it's good to have a lot of variety to listen to, so you don't wear something out.
"oh, i think i don't like trance anymore."

Posted by Halcyon+On+On on Nov-30-2004 00:04:

I just can't bring myself to listening to anything BUT EDM anymore. I put something else on, and then I just can't stand listening to music that's not trance or prog - I don't know quite what it is.

I used to listen to a lot of great rock and other types of music...

Marilyn Manson
Nine Inch Nails
Radiohead
System of a Down
Pink Floyd
Deftones

Now I'm 100% EDM though. Nothing else compares.

What artists? Do you mean like 80s pop or something?

Posted by Brady on Nov-30-2004 00:14:

Elliott Smith
The Shins
The Arcade Fire
Calexico
Andrew Morgan
Earlimart
Pedro the Lion
Sufjan Stevens
Devendra Banhart
Sondre Lerche
Sun Kil Moon
...

Mostly indy rock as you can see, with some folk rock.

Posted by smokeape on Nov-30-2004 00:19:

Trance...and some prog.
Two ingredients I look for is the thump, and some nice chicks singing along to the thump.

Gwill Morris ft Kyla - Time (Vocal, of course)

Music: only EDM (from chill out, prog house / trance to uplifting and tech trance - no hard-styles for me)

When not EDM: only jazz and new-age

same here

its interesting if its good for our brain - coz i red in some paper that listenin to music (not really mentioned what genre) imrpoves our brains-functions coz its like getin the new info all the time...

the question is if it depends on the genre... i mean lets say harcore vs. some chill out stuff...?

other issue is that i dunno if its ok for my ears [i know that its not if u r in club]... the problem is that the volume im listenin to the music on my cd-walkman is quite high... id say sometimes i just "blast" it when ppl that sit near can hear what im listenin to...i dont know its actually can harm my ears or the noise-ranges on headphones r limited and cant actually do smth to my ears...

10x in advance...

And some hiphop (seems I'm listening to that less and less lately)
