Pioneer CDJ 1000 From the UK to USA ??? S.O.S

I've been wanting to buy the Pioneer CDJ-1000 for quite a while now, not to long ago a ebay seller offer it to me for a really good price however this person lives in the UK (it sucks) and I live in USA well she wants me to send her a money order or a western union transfer as a payment for it. I asked her to accept my payment through paypal (safer/easier) but she refused because she have had some problems with paypal before. She said that as soon as she recieves me payment she will mail the cdj through UPS next day. I'm honestly quite afraid of this whole situation.
So I'm not sure at all if I can trust this person! is there any way I can make sure she is not going to rip me off if I send her my payment trough western union ? does western union have any kind of protection in case she does not send it to me (rip me off)
It is a lot of money for me and I'd die if she ends up ripping me off .
Please help me cuz I honestly do not know what to do !

What about payment on delivery, she sends the unit, and when it arrives at your door, you give the money and he takes the money to her, I think thats how it works, I never done it myself, but sounds like a safe option.

I don't think I can do that since the pkg is comning for the UK, if I remember right UPS does not deal with COD's when the pkg comes from another country !

Oh shitty, just give it awhile and someone here will be able to help you, or you could phone UPS and ask them what you could do.

Check her feedback out, that is the best way to trust someone on Ebay if it sucks then don't bother.

What we sometimes do is get the person to send you a pic of the item with an up to date newspaper showing a date on it, then at least you know its for real and them you just gotta trust em to send it.

Don't forget get postal insurance.

Are you nuts?
Have you seen the current exchange rate?????

Posted by Greedy on Nov-30-2004 20:39:

DONT DO IT! I hate scams.

Posted by Alekos on Nov-30-2004 21:03:

I'd send my payment in US dollars ! I guess that's okay with her.
Second - She does not have any feedback when I asked here she says that it's the first time he's tryed to sell something on ebay !
Gosh I don't know what to do .... it's a great price

personally if its an overseas transaction i would only pay by Paypal, it would be too easy to get ripped off IMO

if the price is too good then it usually is im afraid mate!

why not post the ebay link so feedback etc can be checked

I wouldn't risk it if she has no feedback, but its up to you. Hang around for another one to come along, one will sooner or later.

In the time you wait you could save extra cash and get a brand new one they are cheaper in america than over here anyway.

BTW are pioneer still doing rebates on some of their stuff in america?

My thoughts exactly. And the fact that the seller doesn't mind if he sends in USD sets off an alarm to me. Why would anyone want American currency with the current exchange rates?

I'd say you should demand that payment be done your way, so that there's some insurance that this isn't a scam. Tell the seller that it's this way or the highway, and if this really isn't a scam, it wouldn't be a big deal.

If this is the first time selling something on ebay, what kind of problems could she have had with paypal? buyers dont pay the fees, sellers do.

Posted by Greedy on Dec-01-2004 01:59:

its better to pay a lil extra for your piece of mind then risk losin all ur money!

Scammers always pretend to be women.
With the exception of scammers that actually are women.

Posted by Alekos on Dec-01-2004 04:58:

I didn't know that
That's hilarious

Posted by Toufas on Dec-01-2004 05:49:

if she says western union then u know its a scam....

Posted by Tegu on Dec-01-2004 07:48:

definitely do not do it

Posted by zoomzoom on Dec-01-2004 07:51:

This is a scam.

The horrible english, the insistence on receiving payment before shipping, the fact that overseas shipping does not happen in 24 hours unless you pay a shitload of money, and the fact she has no feedback are just some of the things setting off alarms for me.

Posted by Alekos on Dec-01-2004 16:35:

I e-mailed her yesterday telling her NO.
Thank you guys w/o you all I would've probably bought it

Posted by onceler on Dec-01-2004 19:08:

What you are looking for isnt that hard to come by. Whenever you see a deal for these things, make sure you take a bit of time as you did w/ this and step away and look at the deal..

on the other hand, dont think too long or you will miss it.

I found my used cdj from a music store, so it wasnt that hard to make sure it was legit... but i still gave it time.
