monitors
does having nice monitors make a huge difference? when i practice at home, i use regular stereo speakers for monitors....very far from a flat response. i also can never mix the bass beats....i always have to mix the treble or high-hats, because the bass coming out of the speakers isn't loud cuz i live in an apartment building, and it's certainly not as punchy or clear as the bass in the headphones. when i played at a club, the monitor was huge, and it was a lot easier to mix, but i guess my real question is...will having monitors like the alesis m1 active be a great help mixing at home even if i can't turn them up very loud?

If you're desperate on mixing with bass you could get a couple of Aura Bass Shakers
They're good for small spaces where you want to feel the bass.
Mind you trying to actually mix with these I have no clue what results you'll get

| Originally posted by zoomzoom Ok I wasn't clear on exactly what you wanted to do. I have the same mixer, and one gripe I have is that I can't put the monitor in both cans. I too live in an apartment, and can't turn my speakers up loud, so usually mix straight un the headphones. I match beats with both channels in both cans, and when I start mixing in, I switch over to split cue to monitor the mix. What have you got against split cue? |
Yeah, you're right, it is somewhat of a bother to mess with the trim, but I haven't noticed the problem with the LEDs. It seems they match up just fine for me.
Static shocks?
