DJ Desk?

Hi,

I'm seriously struggling on getting somewhere to place my DJ equipment. I've been searching everywhere for desks, tables and other such things where i can put the equipment. But i have had no luck.

What do you use? And is there a special kind of shop you can buy these things form?

Thanks
Chris

I find that all the "DJ" desks cost a shitload, goto Ikea and have a look, or build yourself one out of MDF, then you can get yourself a true custom table and it wouldn't cost much.

I've heard alot of People recommend the "jerker" from ikea. I've seen it mentioned both here, and in the productions studio forum. I think what people like most about it is how it is fully adjustable. So many tables out there are too low for me, and anything that isnt too low seems to be stupidly high.

work in progress: still have to add an extra shelf and sort some shit out, but thats exactly as i bought it.

Took a LOT of measuring and searching for this f\/cker, and i was going to build a similar one anyway!

Dimensions are 200 mm lomg, 32" high and deep enough for a 1200 easily. Its the same height at most dj consoles i have encountered at work- not too low as to hurt your back, but not too high as you need to stand on a box.Pretty much perfect height.
Its long enough for 3 1200s/1210s and a 19" mixer...
Racks and floor space underneath will easily hold over 1000 records

I cant tell you what it is at the mo- simply because im thinking of buying them and selling them on at a profit as Dj tables- simply because it works so well!
Here

Sorted

ill have to vote for the jerker series from ikea as i bought one and it does the job pretty well.
it is fully adjustable like beats said, you can make it a sit down desk or a standup desk and i got the optional swivel shelves to hold my speakers at ear level for monitoring.

what i did is i bought a collapsable work table at a hardware store, and put the boxes that my TT and mixer came in on the table, and put my equip on top of them for it to be at the right height. my tables are battle-style so they fit, but that's the way I learned, so...

it looks like crap now, but that can be fixed w/a large piece of fabric.

i got my table at menards.

Ok, i'm thinking of buying the jerker table, it looks good. From the link Here I'm looking at the top 2 search results. I don't know which table to get, the first or second one. What is the difference? And can the second one adjust the surface up and down? Thanks.

the first two from the search results are the same desk, its just the one that is more expensive comes with all the extra addons like cd rack, i think one swivel unit, cpu holder, and addon shelf.

Smile

I need to get myself a decent desk to fit a PC on, monitor, 2 decks and a mixer that fits in a room of my size dunno how im gonna do it.

build it yourself

That jerker table looks adequate for my decks, mixer & kaoss pad2, plus thats a good idea you can change the height of it.

Earlier on this week i was tempted to get a quote from a carpenter on how much it would cost to make the floating coffin design - http://www.dualsf.com/floating_coffin/ but i guess if you touched it with 1 finger or some1 accidentally bumped into while you were mixing it would be a pain.

Though i'm gonna get a quote to see how much it would cost to make it as i wouldn't have a clue where to start with building it!

Man I feel inadequate.
I've got my tables on a fold-up table from office max.

When I get my tax return i'm planning on upgrading my equipment(turntables, mixer and desk)
