Vote for your Fifa World Player of the Year
So Fifa have released a shortlist that is (in no particular order ofcourse)
1) Thierry Henry
2) Ronaldinho Gaucho
3) Andriy Shevchenko
So who is your pick? If 'other' specify.
My vote goes to Henry. Ronaldinho has been amazing lately but IMO Henry has had a spectacular few seasons at Arsenal now and Ronaldinho still has to win something at club level. Shevchenko is another good choice but he is the most all out striker out of the three and I tend to give playmakers more credit.
Ronaldinho.
Henry in my opinion. Should have got it last year. Ronaldinho has a case for it and will probably get it due to Fifa's Brazilian Bias.
sheva for sure...hez been absolutely incredible this year...
henry..nope...should've had it last year...
Of the big 3 Ronaldinho will probably win it.
other but...
Ronaldinho of course
As I think more about this, all 3 are derserving, good job Fifa for once.

Sheva would get recognized more if Ukraine had any base of players besides him, he has never been in the main stage but you can't deny that this player is the best ever to come out of Ukraine and will probably pull them to the WC for 2006 alone, when he does this he will be recognized as Footballer of the year. What he is doing for Milan right now is simply amazing, without him they would not even stand a chance to challenge Juve.
Therefore my vote goes for him. But it's like voting for Nader in the elections this past november - just a waste of a vote.

Ronaldinho has been simply magic in the last 8 months and that should clinch it for him.
Henry is great but a bit inconsistent in the last 2 months, ever since I put him in my dream team...
Shevchenko... nah, more classy players out there imo
I'l have to vote for Ronaldinho.
Would love to see Henry win it, but don't think he will. As others have said he deserved it last year... and so far this season Ronaldihno has just been something else
The player who deserves this is HENRY. He was top scorer of the 2003-2004 EPL, he is currently top scorer of the 2004-2005 season, and he scored 2 goals at Euro. There aren't many players around that have his finesse and style. My vote goes to him without a doubt.
Ronaldinho
Henry - IMO - was better last year.....
n Peter, 2 goals in the Euro - that's nothing....
Ronaldinho if You ask me!!!
The best player on the world nowdays!!!
Ronaldinho won it, and deservedly so

Prolific form The 28-year-old finished as top scorer in Serie A in the 2003/04 season with 24 goals as Milan won the title in convincing fashion. Shevchenko has showed no sign of slowing down in the present campaign, with three goals in five UEFA Champions League matches and eleven more strikes in the Italian top flight. Nedved successor Shevchenko succeeds Juventus FC midfielder Pavel Nedved as the winner of the Ballon d'Or, which has been organised by France Football since 1956, beating the likes of FC Barcelona forward Ronaldinho and Arsenal FC striker Thierry Henry who are in the running with the Ukrainian for next week's FIFA World Player of the Year award. Deco in second place Shevchenko collected 175 votes in the France Football poll, with Barcelona's Portuguese international Deco in second place with 139 votes. His Camp Nou team-mate Ronaldinho was third with 133 votes and French international Henry fourth with 80 votes. I'd like to thank all those who helped me, especially my fellow Ukrainians Andriy Shevchenko 'Special day' "I'm very happy to have received this award," Shevchenko said. "I'd like to thank all those who helped me, especially my fellow Ukrainians. I'm Ukrainian and proud of it. I dedicate this award to my people." Third Ukrainian winner Shevchenko is the third Ukrainian to win the award, following Oleh Blokhin and Ihor Belanov, who took the title in 1975 and 1986 respectively while representing the Soviet Union. "I grew up in Ukraine and saw Belanov and Blokhin win the Golden Ball," he said. "They were my first idols." His success is the seventh time a Milan player has won the coveted award, with only Juventus, on eight, boasting more titles. |
Shevchenko is living the life in which all footballers dream of; a super model wife, a new born son and an absoloutely astonoshing season - if he wins then well fucking done, i'll stand and applaud wherever i am.
