n00b ? What's the difference?
between turntablism and mixing? I searched the forum, maybe I was looking in the wrong place, thanks
Turntablism is like scratching, crazy tricks and such.
Mixing, can involve a bunch of things, but generally you would define it as mixing tracks together so that there are no pauses in sound.
sweet thanks a lot
does it get on anyone elses nerves when people pick user names with "DJ" in them, and honestly don't even know what mixing is?
why not go sign up as physics_god at a science forum and be like, hey, who is einstein?
sorry bro, I didn't realize it bothered you so much. oh well.
nah, s'all good man, i don't hold it against you, everyone wants to be a DJ these days. *sigh*

Yeah, I admit I have no idea whatsoever about djing, but I am very insterested in it. Just trying to fit in, just call me Rocket.
If I worked at the rock and roll station, you are 'a'DJ....it has no bearing on actually mixing tracks together or scratching...it just involves putting the record/cd in and playing it, taking requests, phone calls and pressing play on the adverts...heck I don't think any of the mixing/scratching started until around '78, and if you were to even mention "mixing" to 90% of radio "DJ's" they may think you were the one that was mis-guided. It's just funny that the same term, DJ, Disc Jockey has elvolved the way it has rather than calling 'us' "Seamless Electronic Choon Mixing Guys" or "Dudes that Attempt to Damage records by making them sound funny".
It's kind of funny how narrow the definition of "Disc Jockey" has gotten over the years...bahh...I'm getting to old
But as stated, in the end, who cares.
I just found it worth a laugh...and how did you know my name was physics_god on the MIT boards?
