Slip mats

Ok, just bought a pair of Numark decks and it came with 2 numark ordinary slipmats (2nd hand). Can you please advise me on what slip mats i should get. Or should i keep my numark slipmats? What are the best slipmats to get and why etc... Cheers Chris.

Just try them out.

If you don't like them, buy a new pair.

best to get: whichever design you like.

slipmats arent very expensive, usually around $20 US

id say just have a look around through internet sites or a shop in your area that sells Dj equipment

slipmats are for all purposes just something soft to put your records on rather than directly on the platter which is either plastic, aluminum, or in some cases a ruber mat which has the potential to cause some kind of damage to your records

there are alot of web stores that claim buying X slipmat will "take your set to the next level" or "if youre serious about becoming a pro, buy these" its all a load of crap

if your current ones are really tattered then have a look around and get whichever ones look cooleest to you, but if theyre fine, keep em and spend the money on something worth it like vinyl

You should check out if Cream has an online store.

less friction on the surface of the platter. It actually helps too when i played w/ em.

Anyways, each brand/type of slipmat may feel different. I personally like sicmats and technics mats. But i've heard good things about sewer slimes, butter rugs, and the "swiss cheese" stanton mats.

i know from experience that the numark slipmats are crap. bits can come off and stick to your record.. plus they dont slip so well.

have a look at sicmats, they are made from really high quality material and have some wicked patterns, and are also nice and slippy (unlike the numarks).

www.decks.co.uk
www.jbsmusic.com

between them they cover most of the designs.
