Arctic Breeze - Avalanche (Original Mix)

Just finished a new track! Comments are appreciated as allways

Arctic Breeze - Avalanche (Original Mix)

Arctic Breeze - Avalanche (Update Mix)

It has got nothing to do with any other tracks with the same name, some guy told me the name was taken by Yahel, but it's happend before and most likely happend again

Edit: I have uploaded an updated mix of the track due to some requests of a high quality version. Just tweaked the bassdrum slightly, it was too dry and adjusted the filter on the bass. The start was a bit harsh. The update is 224kbps, aprox 15 mb.

Good bass but again make it mure punchy.
Nice riffs on the first buildup.
303's are too light for my taste but I make hard acid some i'm prolly worng.
That riff synth, replace it from time to time.
Make it different.
I don't like the chihats.
Just took a look and the low bass freqs are really low.
I think thats why you don't have any punch.
Nice lead but the start of it sounds like an intro since it's too repitetive and not like a lead. after those 4 patrens it's really good.
Clap is too low on the volume.
Overall nice track 4/5

- At 0:25 and 4:00 and 6:42, that effect is screaming "i'm fruity!", maybe add more channel fx on it or use an other effect..I didn't realy like it.
- IMO you should make the percs louder..and maybe add some more.
- The "break" on 2:22 is nice.
- I liked that sound in the background around 2:31.
- IMO the bass needs to be punchier and louder.
- At 5:22 when all the elements of the track suppose to give you the "rush"...I don't know..they don't. Maybe it's the bass.
- Good melody!
Overall..I like it 7/10

Could someone please hand over a more punchier bassdrum?
I know the takeoff part didn't end up how I wanted it to be, I got tired of playing around with it and decided to just finish it off.
But I'm quite satisfied with the result. Thanks for your comments.

np
About the bass, I'm using a bass from a Soundfont bank I've downloaded from HammerSound.
The bank is called HS TB-303...it's description:
quote:
17 different 'instruments' sampled from the Roland TB-303 analog synthesizer. This synthesizer is used a lot in 'modern' dance music / techno mostly for bass-lines and arpeggiators. The 'typical' TB-303 sound has a closing filter with plenty of resonance.

Yup, I like the bass drum. The start is pretty funky

1:40 nice high pitched sound
2:00 heaps of energy.
2:30 kewl!

4:00 break. ---> great build up.

5:30 heaps of mementum now!

dang! Ive got no critism for this one. It's an awesome tune! Thanx for sharing Arctic Breeze

EQ it punchier... boost smaller bandwidths on the parametric EQ (small) gives the punch in that frequency range... scroll around the sweepable freq selector and find what range is punchy and zero in on what you need to boost.

Wow mate... the main melody on this is incredible (very driving and engaging and the saws sound great)!! I love the acidlines... I'd change the kick anyway... it sounds like it would fit a German Tunnel Trance track, but not an anthem like this (try a Robert Nickson style kick... nice and punchy with some good lowend release). and perhaps a more powerful clap (try adding reverb to your clap and then gating it.. oh yeah and play the clap at a higher pitch that sounds phat).. a punchier bassline would help too... try using the decay and envolope modulation on the synth with the lowpass filter cutoff... that way it plucks on every note... and put a bitcrusher on it to accentuate the punch, kinda like what Fictivision does (it sounds raw as hell! I guarantee you)

Try putting a good drumloop over that to accentuate the high hats... since that area sounds a bit empty. You can probably pinch one off a track, and you may have to filter it to fit nicely in the mix.

This tune has potential to be a monster jam! You certainly have the skills to be the next Terry Bones!

Smile Tongue

yeah! what he said ^

Very Robert Nickson! Maybe gerry should remix it...he's got some great ideas!

I don't think the melody line was all that great...i mean it IS driving... but, cmon, 2 notes for a melody?? Not gonna happen! LOL It got a bit better after the break cuz more stuff was happening besides the "melody" line.

Still...I liked it a lot!

Posted by gerrycueto on Dec-31-2004 18:47:

maybe I should remix it...

the melody is great... it's just in between a dull structure so you can't really feel its greatness.

Posted by Mycron on Dec-31-2004 19:03:

the melody is too busy for me, but it's just personal taste,

i like the kick, it needs to give it to some more punch, though

i would change the whole bassline or make it nore driving, make some kickass sub-bass like above & beyond do, really moving ones i mean,

need to do some massive atmosphere to it too, need more effects,

overall i like the way, this turning out, just work on it some more,

keep it up, mate

it's the structure that's too busy... maybe you could have some rests during the track... or more crescendos

more effects? I think this sounds full already... maybe too full... might need to minimalize on certain parts, maybe that's just me.

Posted by Mycron on Dec-31-2004 23:48:

me expect a gerry cueto remix too, btw

Posted by gerrycueto on Jan-01-2005 05:48:

I'll add it to my remix queue...

Posted by JohnOC on Jan-01-2005 13:51:

the melody is a bit general and doesnt really stand out. also even though its a 224 mp3 it sounds about 96kps, might want to review your mastering techniques

Posted by Arctic Breeze on Jan-01-2005 14:01:

and and and... you smell very bad!

Hehe

I have never said I knew how to master properly and on my speakers, even 128 kbps sounds allright. Guess I'll just have to practice some more then.

Posted by Sunquest on Jan-01-2005 20:18:

its ok, mastering will come with time
u definatly have some god ideas, definatly has lots of potential m8, its just the mastering u gotta fix, other than that it sounding well
peace out

Posted by NoisyNeil on Jan-02-2005 09:37:

one word: AMAZING

I love this track (the update mix ) ... I'm definitly going to spin this one, if ya don't mind

ps. The build-up and bassline reminds me a bit of the Airbase Remix of Solar Stone - Solarcoaster. Don't ya think?

Posted by thoughtlessjex on Jan-03-2005 02:42:

This filter on the bass makes the intro much more mellow.

Floops sample .

Nice buildup.

I like that acid around 1:40.

And that pickup to 1:47? Mint. Pure mint. More classy ideas from Arctic Breeze.

This melody is so awesome, although I must admit I can barely hear the bassline. I hear kick fine, but the bassline is sort of drowned out by your pad.

At least you didn't name it Satellite.
