>>>Tiesto : Concert Review 10/17/01<<<
This was my first time seeing Tiesto live and after reading all the posts over the past year I was excited. To kick off the night Tiesto started with "Hear Me Now" (grandchillas mix) which was a very killer start to which was already a killer evening by the local DJ's. I have seen the likes of Marco V, PVD, Derrick Carter, Max Graham, Thomas Krome, Digweed, all this year. Quite a year so far. But, Tiesto unfortunately fell short of my expectations after that first tune and was average at best. The tracks he picked were no doubt awesome but the flow was horrifying. Poor mixing between tracks (screwed up about a dozen times), unsteady flow of music, it was a real disappointment. It had the feel of me taking awesome tracks and randomly throwing them on a CD. This concert would have been great if I had been listening to it in my car but live...
Perhaps it was an off night or he didn't care too much but I expected more from a professional. I know some people are going to be pissed at this review but this is the most honest I can be about the concert. I came in excited and a Tiesto fanatic. Oh and for those who compare PVD to Tiesto, as a DJ they aren't even in the same league. If you have seen them both live and you are serious about music you will understand what I am saying. This isn't a flame on Tiesto, this is a flame on his performance on 10/17/01. Tiesto in my mind is now an average DJ and an excellent producer. Which is ok. He probably won't be by the area for quite some time anyway
All the other guys above that I listed that I saw this year are a notch or two above Tiesto when it comes to a live show.
I give this show a 4 out of 10
I will be Seeing Tiesto tonight in New York. I can't wait, been waiting since March to hear him spin again. My expectations is high for tonight, I just hope he can spin a set I won't forget tonight.
T-BAss
Yeah, I was dissapointed by his set last week in Dallas.
He spun a bunch of older songs. with the exception of about two or three songs...he could have spun that set back in april.
a nice guy though..
pvd seemed really pissy when he came down to houston last saturday. didn't seem like he enjoyed it at all, hhe spun his usual songs then promptly left after the 3 hour mark.
