What year in your opinion was the best year for trance? Which year had the best releases and brought the most classics?

By far 1997. It was the year of Space Brothers, Trouser Enthusiasts and one classics like Lost Tribe "My Soul" and Da Hool "Meet Her At The Love Parade"!

I've listened to the stuff since late 1996 I reakon, I really got into it by mid 1998 and I reakon 1999 is the best. Before there was a lot of weak stuff, and after there's been too much progressive. 1999 was a genre defining year for trance and I just hope that there is one year like that coming again soon, hopefully next year.

shit fucking very hard choice, 97, 98, 99, 2000 I deicded to pick 1999 it was a wicked year, but at the same time so were the other years I mentioned, but 99 brings back the best memories of quality trance.

And others mentioned already.. 2000 comes in close second for me.. don't get me wrong.. there are some tunes before that.. but I grew up with trance these 2 years.. that makes the impact bigger..

it is definitely 98-99. i mean every year has amazing releases, but nothing can compare to the massive influx of new listeners and the scene taking off from the underground and into the public eye. definitely these 2 years.

For me it was the first year I started listening to it, 99. I think trance was at its best from 99 till mid 2000. Style has changed up a bit, going more toward uplifting progressive and progressive but there are still a few good tunes out there. There are just too many artists out there trying to bite off each other tunes and taking advantage of the music industry. Its reached to a point where its starting to sound all the same, and there are fewer songs that stand out. Thats why to me 99 stands out. The other day I was searching for a tune from 99 called Project A - Angelhair, but instead I found The Arrival by the same artist. I listened to RA clip and man did this bring back memories of 99 style trance. I was so hyped up about this tune I sent the RA clip to all my trance buddies, and they couldnt agree with me more.....

This is a good ex. of what im talking about, u dont hear trance like this anymore.

Lets just hope artists can come up with new styles that we can get use to and make a comeback

I take my Trance 99 and only club temperature thank you. I think the matter is settled. 99 by far. Not that it has gone bad since but 99 was the big bang of the trance universe man. things just escalated from there. Thank God for Ferry Corsten and the rest of the Dutch massive.

I went for 1999... it aint dubbed as the year of trance for nothing! Tho this year, there have been lots of really good tunes released, so 2001 would be it's closest rival!

i think this last year was a very good year for trance...maybe even the best...i see everyone just looking back to the 90's and i agree that a lot of great tracks have been made in those years (we call it classics now ) but if you look to the majority of all the tracks produced now, i think the trance traxx now are of a very high level. ofcours a lot of crap is released now too, but was that any different back in 1998 or 1999? no, so id say 2001 is the best year so far and i hope 2002 will be even better then 1998+1999+2000+2001 (trance as we know it now did not excist before 1998/1997 imo )
alright thats my opinion..too bad i cant vote now, because my i-net is bitchin

oh and 1 more thing, my knowlegde of the english language is poor, so please dont bitch on my 3yrs-old-kid grammar/words mistakes, thank you
