Pomegranate
Once a teeny karaoke bar, this eatery now boasts white walls decorated with red and black tapestries and a calligraphic verse by Rumi (co-owners Danielle Schrage and Alireza Fakhrashrafi will translate it, if asked). A traditional soup of long-cooked greens, beans, noodles, chickpeas and garlic ($3.50) comes drizzled with goat milk yogurt and sweet caramelized onions. Fresh mint and parsley sprigs accompany a dish of black kalamata olives, walnut halves, trad yeasted flatbread and salty feta cheese rolled in black nigella seeds ($4.95). Two daily specials round out the cartes seven mains ($8.50$14.95). Basmati rice with almonds, pistachios, tasty filaments of Seville orange zest, tangy barberries and carrots escorts braised lamb chunksdrab until dipped in minted yogurt alongside. Overcooked skinless chicken breast (dry, not tough) pairs with a balanced pure of walnuts, pomegranate syrup and intriguing spices. Minted yogurt appears again, with saffron-tinted basmati and a salad of onion, cucumber and tomato. Homemade Iranian sweets include baklava; fried dough soaked in honey, rosewater and saffron syrup; and lovely shortbread cookies (orange- cardamom, lavender, lemon-anise, cinnamon-almond). Also available: local beers and a few modest wines (Omar Khayyam would approve)Pelee Island sauvignon blanc, a verdicchio, a Chilean cab ($5.95 by the glass). Wines may be sipped from an ordinary wine glass or (better) a traditional Iranian hand-thrown ceramic cup. Closed Monday.
Address: 420 College St., 416-921-7557.

I figured it'd be nice to get a nice meal after Tiesto, and it's a downtown location for a change.
Yay for College Street!
Count me in.

Dood!
Sunday is my weekly day of fasting... Otherwise that would be sweet.
Have fun.
Beh, why don't you move the date to a weekday so more people can attend,
i know most people will be at work any chosen day, but looks like weekday would be better (just a thought though)...
i hope seeing Tiesto is not a prerequisite for this
we gotta make LKD come and get hime drunk

Count me in, sounds like fun. Persian food never disappoints.
Oh and what is the closest intersection on college for this place??
I hope I can make it!!!!
<----- in for sure
